6 disc in dash player sucks, won't load

I cannot get the in dash cd changer to load more than one CD. I hold down "Load" and nothing ever happens. Am I doing this wrong or what? It doesn't beep or flash anything, it just sits there.

Take it to your dealer for repair. Has it ever worked?

We just bought the car this past week and it hasn't worked yet. I went to the dealer today and they just told us to keep messing with it. I was hoping it was a common problem or something that I was overlooking. Dammit.

That's B.S.!! Don't get discouraged. Take it back to your dealer and speak directly to the service Manager. Push for them to replace the headunit. Period.

Good luck.

Are you sure you have the 6 disc changer? The load button is on all the cars, wether they have the changer or not. It doesn't do anything that I know of for the single disc headunit.
Does your faceplate say 6 Cd?

Also, your dealer is full of it for telling you to just keep messing with it. That's their job, not yours. You need to let them know that.....they might be putting you off to avoid admitting they didn't actually give you the 6 disc changer, also...

yes.. i vet you have the single disk ver.. you only need to push it once ans the tray will cycle around till it finds an empty slot the the display will say insert cd.

if yours doen not do this the you have the single disk.. Many dealers say your getting the 6 disc ver.. mine did to.. So look on your window sticker. the car doesnot come withthe 6 disk unit stock.. it has to be added by the dealer. you can tell by looking at the black plastck part over the volume ****. if it only say push Power Vol and Disk then you have the single disk unit.

Well I'll be... I just looked at the window sticker and no mention of the 6 disc in dash CD player. They swore up and down it had one.

Thanks guys, that solves that problem. You can only listen to one of them at a time anyway so I guess it's not that big of a deal.

you need to go kick some ***.. they did the same to me.. make them kick in the cash to get a 6 disk unit installed.. And then do the install yourself.. just make them buy the unit.

Welcome to the message board. The factory disc changer not ejecting is common. However I really haven't heard of it killing anyone's battery. I would make sure it's the CD player causing your battery drain. Pull the fuse to that circuit and make sure the CD player has no power. See if that stops killing your battery.

Regardless, the CD player is toast. There is no "opening it up and fixing" it. If you can find another player from a scrap yard for under 100 bucks, then it might be an option. Players from Bose vehicles are different than player from non-Bose, so watchout for that. Otherwise, I recommend going aftermarket and buying the Metra kit (details in the FAQ thread at the top).
