Was just thinking about something that might be cool if I happened to have the money... Tried a quick search and found nothing. Any chance the 2009 seats could just be swapped into the older 8s? I have the old black/red interior and kinda like the new red interior... I'd have to see it in person or more pics of it, but just kind of wondering for now.

 

the seats would probably swap but they are way expensive. im assuming youre talking about the r3 seats

 

I don't think the Recaro's are red...

 

nah, they're shown (barely) on the mazdausa.com site... It's a slightly darker, but solid, red. Might be nicer leather as well. Only issue is the door panels wouldnt match so it'd end up being rather pricey I'm guessing.

 

What about side airbag? Will removing seat cause any trouble with the system?
I think there is SRS airbag sensor under the seat and airbag on side of the seat.

 

imo, the 2006 ~ 2008 black/ red seats would suffice cuz they don't have the gay ribbed edges and are fully wrapped- ie unlike our lame 2005 & earlier ones.. but, 4 seats = mucho $ $ $. not worth it unless u have cash to burn and really nothing better to do.

 

I do indeed love the red as well, much classier than the red/black scheme. I think the full black leather int + red front seats only would look good! Still, however, I would prefer the recaros. May not look as good but I'm sure function better as far as booty sliding and are probably lighter (no heated/motorized). I would have gotten racing seats for the front by now but I really do not like the idea of removing airbags from the car!

I was thinking about swapping my stock 04 seats for the R3. They look a lot cooler and better IMO

 

yeah i have to agree that the stock seats from 04 kinda suck. I have the all black interior with the gay *** ribbing on them, and the actual seat bottom is worn down and the side bolsters do NOTHING. my spec v has MUCH MUCH better side bolsters on it. that seat you can feel the sides holding you in place.

 

Where can I find the R3 seats? I looked on the recaro website but couldn't find them.
