2009 ipod w/ nav

i checked on mazda6 forums and this one for the last few days... cant find the answer.

I tested a mazda6 (2009) with the nav and one of the source options said Ipod.. along with Aux 1 and Aux 2, CD, SAt, and something else.. so I assume the ipod adapter will be available.

the 09 RX8 nav appears to be the same as the 6... does anyone have the 09 with an ipod kit? Does the ipod get controlled thru the nav system like the radio/sat does? track title album info? how is the user interface? crappy like the 04-08s? playlist needed?

after testing the g37, CTS, A5 .. they all had perfect integration.. just plug and play.. no fancy adapter just the included cable... and control it jus tlike an ipod. kinda spoiled me testing those. Im looking into an 09 after having the 04 for 4 years.. dealer i went to had no RX8s in stock tho.

so any one here know the answers?

Not an expert but ...

Irfan

I'm not an expert on the nav/iPod system as I have not seen/used one yet. However, I have ordered a 2009 6 with the nav system *and* the Mazda iPod kit/adapter. After they spoke with Mazda a few times (my dealer has not had many requests for this kit), my dealer assures me that yes I'll be able to control my iPod from the steering wheel and/or nav screen. Track/title/genre info etc will appear on the nav screen. Apparently, it's seamless and looks/sounds wonderful. The iPod stays secure (out of sight) in the glovebox, and to any casual observer, they would never know you have the system installed. You do not have to choose between the sat radio or iPod - you have access to BOTH - obviously, not at same time. In Canada, installed in new vehicle by dealer, the unit is a little over $400. Apparently, three different and separate parts have to be order - 2 cables and a switcher.

Again, all of this is expressed *without* any personal experience. I asked lots of questions of my dealer before ordering so I am confident all will be as promised when my 6 arrives in a couple of weeks. Good luck!

Yes it's compatible!

Don't know if you've got your definitive answer yet, but here is a screen shot from another user that shows it is compatible even with sat radio. I'm having to convince my sales guy (as we speak) that it is an option and it IS compatible.
