[HELP] No sounds from speakers, possible amp fault?

Hi all,

Thanks for reading this, I'm having problem with my stock bose system as it doesn't make any sounds now.

I searched the forum and most likely no one had the same issue as mine.

I had my CarPC hooked up about a month ago, the PC got the power source from the amp (which is the reason why I guess it's the amp's problem).

I had no problem on Sunday morning, but in the afternoon after work, I realised that the backlight of hardware buttons on my Touchscreen (which had the same power source as PC) were blinking.

I still have the HU working properly (I can change the volume, music sources), the computer runs ok, but nothing comes out from the speakers.

I also checked my fuse box and everything seems fine.

my question is, would it be the amp faultly or something else?
people in Autobarn (Australia shop) recommended me to get a 3sixty.1 ($AUS 799, parts) instead, could I have the 3sixty.1 installed even if the amp is faulty? (and dont change the speakers? I dont have that much money to spend now)

The mazda dealer quote me AUS$639 (parts) to replace the front amp and I believe to replace the rear one would cost pretty much the same or more.

Any comments are appreciated.

The 3sixty.1 is not an amplifier. Why you'd replace an amplifier with it is beyond me.

firebirdude,

Thanks for your reply, I'm confused with what they have told me, because as far as I know (after some search on the forum and google), the 3sixtys are signal processors and nothing related to a amp.

I asked them "What can I do if I want to keep my oem HU but without using the oem amp", they recommended me 3sixty straight away.

so does that mean if I want to keep the oem HU and speakers, I will still need an amp? (I know it sounds noob, but I really am )

cheers,

Well there's your answer. You basically told him you wanted to add an aftermarket amp. So he recommended a high quality line-output converter to allow you to do that. You would need both the 3sixty.1 AND an aftermarket amp to drive the speakers. And you cannot use the factory 9" door speakers with aftermarket amplifiers. You said you have a carPC, so not sure how you have the interfaced with the factory headunit or where your display is. Most folks get a sound card for their CarPC and run RCAs to all aftermarket equipment.

Thanks for the reply again, I'm clearly understand now, I will take the car to get it check again to make sure it's only the amp's problem.
