If it's made well and fits right - I think it would work quite nicely considering CF's strength, light weight and impact resistance.

Match it up with the Carbon Fiber Fenders (front quarter panels) and doors and parkinglot "dings" would be a thing of the past.

Paint it all to match and you should be "good to go."

But then my experience with carbon fiber is limited and I could be wrong.

I wanted black rockers and rear under, so rather then have a body shop have to paint anything, why not go with a clear coated carbon? If the fit is good its still cheaper then buying a poor quality MS style fiberglass and having a shop do a bunch of work to get the finish good.

It will still have that (IMO) ugly CF look and wavy surface... how does that compare to a professionally paint-matched piece?
Granted, I severely dislike the way carbon fiber pieces look, so I'm definitely biased

Regarding the "poor quality MS-style fiberglass", that's the problem right there. Personally, I would never even consider anything like that to be installed on my car, even if it is dirt cheap. If I'd want to get any body kit, I'd rather save for a high quality one instead of getting some crappy fiberglass replica that's a pain to install and will never look right - plus it breaks at the first touch.

i agree with you on the fiberglass replica whole heartedly. However, i would want a flack black rocker, so buying the real MS speed kit just to have it re painted flat is a little silly.

Well, if I'm not mistaken, there are unpainted urethane MS replica pieces available for a reasonable price - don't know if they are good quality or not, but maybe that's the way to go then.

I wouldn't go for the urethane replicas... I bought one and the front and back bumper were so flimsy, if I would of put it on it probably would of warped in a week with how hot it gets down here. That and it had so many pits where they didn't clean out the mold. And that is why it's sitting in my house, and I am waiting on my fiberglass pieces. PS: The sideskirts were actually pretty sturdy so I am still going to put those on. I ordered my urethane from vision autodynamics. I would not recommend their kits... my 2 cents.

I say that because I don't think its the real thing, and I'd feel sorry for anyone who got it and expected little to no problems out of it.

the problem with this is if it doesn't fit.. you are screwed. the cf layer over the fiberglass will make it more impact resistant, but it will not flex even the slightest anymore. and you can't fix it with fiberglass unless you decide on painting over it.

Actually, you can buy the MS kit in primer so you can paint it the color you want.

"Body color painted Side Skirts with Gun Metallic accents. Parts are made from Metton® liquid molding resign for increased durability. Also available in primer finish with Gun Metallic accents already painted and masked."

Check it out...

CF doesnt prevent door dings. You can still just as simply chip away chunks of paint and excess epoxy..and excess expoxy is what ricer parts are ALL about..that nice deep glooooosy look, not the proper nearly rough..properly evacuated of all un-necessary epoxy finish.
