What applications are good for "inverted" LED bulbs?

Ran across these and wondered if these would be a better choice than regular LEDs. It looks like they have a better, softer, more even light distribution. Thinking of getting these for all the 194 bulbs in my 8... thoughts?

vleds's shipping prices are ripoffs for canada. I e-mailed them asking if they would give me something more reasonable, so we will see.

Also, I could get a dozen LEDs -- shipped to Canada -- 194s from ebay for the price of one of those sets you linked. As for price vs quality, I hear a lot of people saying their vleds burn out quickly, so I'd rather be out $20 than $100 if they burn out.

I bought a pair of inverted LEDs a long time ago to check them out and they aren't suitable for external applications. They only contain 1 LED and are very dim. You are much better off going with refractor type bulb that has many LEDs facing in different directions. I'm using the following for my parking lights for example:

As I said... vleds + shipping + canada = screwed.

My alternative is:

10 for $20 shipped! as opposed to $115 for VLEDS

I know you don't want to buy from V-LEDs, I was just showing you an example as other companies sell similar bulbs. The one you posted above will work. Also check out www.autolumination.com. See my response in your other thread about non-LEDs for my suggestion on buying or making "LED protectors" (1 Watt 100ohm for smaller clusters, 10 ohm for larger clusters) so your LEDs don't burn out. I've tried many different LEDs in my car (exterior and interior) let me know if you have any other questions.

actually it's autoilummination that most people have had issue with. I've yet to have a vled burn out on me.

Howlong have you had them? Are you using any resistors?

I've had both autoluminations and vleds burn out on me. I will agree that autolumination is the lower quality bulb mostly because their colors are not consistant. Burn out rate has been the same for me before using resistors.

Seems to be the consensus. I guess I'll wait for them to answer my messages... I shrug at the thought of paying nearly $200 for bulbs though... they better last!

Correct.............I wouldn't use autoilummination IMO.
I haven't had a VLED go out in over two years in some cases.
Think I'm using the 5led refractors in my map lights...............hell, I can't remember will have to go check my long annoying post.
Looks like I was only using the refractors in the map lights to fill out the lens more.

Well, I found it. Here's what I have at the moment. Hopefully the links work?

Don't overlook your plate light. Funny, but it actually makes a big difference(at least to me).
Whatever you use for you clears and/or parking lights, I would use the same there.
You might be surprised!

Hmmmmmmmmm.........Swoope(I think) and I did both had a flasher in that passenger side parking light position one time.
Was that what you had or did they just burn out?.....and was it both sides or just one?
Inquiring minds want to know!

Some of the VLED's come with resistors already there, but to answer your question................."No", I have not had to add any resistors on anything so far.
Remember this though................if you do the third brake light, the high center one, you will have issues with your ABS and maybe DCS/TCS. That circuit is really touchy and there is a fix somewhere on here about it, but I didn't really think it was worth it, so I left the bulb in that position.
Pics.............there are a few floating around on here. I'll see if I can find some, but I'm not much of a photographer. YOu could probably search my username and LED or something and come up with them.....I'll see if I can locate any. Here's a couple, but these weren't really showing the inside.
