ok...finally here is two images of what the hood look like. It is not the finish product. Still in the working phase. It is made out of clay so we can modify any mod needed. On Monday I will see the hood personally and see if the prototype hood scoop flow with the OEM hood. I will post more images once the prototype hood is fininsh so I could get a few opinions from everyone before we start to make the mold for the final CF product.

Yeah, the original one looks much more flush with the rest of the OEM hood's lines. The clay model looks like it could swallow a bird much like the STI's. But it looks good! Great job, hope to see the finished product soon.

So what kit do you guys think would go best with this hood? I was thinking of picking up the MS replica from mazdaparts.com, what do you guys think. Ultimately it would be nice if someone were to actually come out with the concept kit that goes with the hood but I seriously doubt that will happen..

Looks great HUS! I am very excited to see what the finished product looks like. I was wondering though...will it come with mesh already installed? Or will you leave it up the cust?

the top of the vent needs to come forward aand down some. in front of the vent there needs to be a "floor" to the piece and not see the hood there. IMO

Agreed, right now it looks like a big round hole was drilled almost straight down through the hood instead of looking like a scoop. Still needs a bit of work IMO.

The hood scoop will not come with grill or any vent cut out. It will be one solid carbon fiber hood scoop. We will provide 3M industrial strength double sided tapes for mounting the hood scoop on the hood. It is up to everyone to cut out the vent inlet and install the mesh grill from behind, and also cut into the OEM hood to make it functional. I recommend drilling a few screws or installing a few nuts & bolts to hold down the hood scoop if you decided to make the hood scoop functional.

Yes...we are fixing the hood scoop to best match the Concept one. There will be more pictures once the clay model is done. I will get the majority approval here in the forum before we make the mold. Thank you for all those who add their names to the list.

Would it cost less to go with something other than carbon fiber? I know I'll just end up having it painted to match the car anyway.

I also think it may be better to go with a cheaper material than carbon fiber because I think most people would rather paint this. And even if we had a CF hood, the CF weaves probably won't match up and look odd.

CF scoops look "ok" on a wrx, but I think it may be really ricey to put it on a RX8. A hood scoop, by itself, is probably ricey anyways, but if we could paint it to match the hoods color, it would at least blend in like the MS Concept RX8.

I agree totally
just a cf scoop may be alittle much without any other cf parts
