Hey i just took my car in for an inspection today and They said my tint was 28% and that the limit was 32%. I have 30 days to fix it and take it back so i can get the sticker put on. What do i need to do? take the tint off? if so how? and i want to keep tint on my car...but dont want to pay the $150 for new tint. would it be better to take it to another shop or what?

 

When you bought the tint did the shop tell you it would pass? If they did, then call then and have them put the right tint on.
If you have to take the tint off, get it passed, then have the tint put back on.. you're probably still better off going to the same shop.

 

I bought the car 3 months ago from a private seller. The guy who owned the car before him had put the tint on. The guy i bought it from said he didnt know how much tint was on, and that it had always passed inspection.

How much would it cost to have a shop take the tint off then put it right back on?

 

Try going to a different shop if possible? The shop you went to could just be jerks and might want you to go to them again for inspection if they charge, I don't know how inspection works in NC, we have smog checks in Cali. If the seller said he was always able to pass inspection, find out what shop he took it to.

You mentioned you have 30 days to take it back, do you have to go to that specific shop? Was it assigned by the DMV?

 

We don't have inspections like that here luckily. I have dark tint on all 6 windows, I'd be screwed lol

 

i love how your windsheld is tinted but i dont have the guts to do that to my car, i know id get a ticket.
