Shine Auto Project

I had a hard time finding any thread dealing with Shine Auto Project, but the few I did find seem to agree that their body kits fit pretty well. I just want to make sure however, because I recently wasted $700 on a Extreme Dimensions piece of trash.

My question is are these kits worth putting on my RX8? Will they look good?

First, for everybody's edification, I just got an email back from Shine Auto Project (shineautoproject at gmail dot com). I was a little confused because their website only shows 3 RX7 kits and a 370z kit. This is what I got back.

Yes indeed we do. here ya go.

Rx8 parts

Spec-A Aero Kit ( Autobahn Replica)

4-way pics.

We never offered a replica of the rear bumper as it requires a special custom exhaust to be made. Most have gone with our spec-KS rear bumper, which seems to be a more fitting combination.

RX8-FB-A Rx-8 Spec-A Front Aero Bumper Hybrid FRP $450

RX8-SS-A Rx-8 Spec-A Sideskirts Hybrid FRP $300

Rx8 Type-AX Aero (Autoexe replica)

We do not offer a replica of the Autoexe sides or rear bumper. We once offered a replica of the rear bumper, but most enthusiasts leaned towards the Spec-KS, and we have discontinued the Autoexe rear bumper ever since.

2-way pic.

RX8-FB-AX Rx8 Type-AX Front Aero Bumper Hybrid FRP $450

Rx8 Type-F (Feed Replica) New product. more pics coming soon

4-way

RX8-FB-F Rx8 Type-F Front Aero Bumper Hybrid FRP $450

Rx8-SS-F Rx8 Type-F Sideskirts Hybid FRP $300 Carbon accented $500

Spec-KS Rear Aero Bumper (Kenstyle replica)

RX8-RB-KS Rx8 Spec-KS Rear Aero Bumper Hybrid FRP $450

New version* Carbon accented center section $750

Earlier this year I spoke with Shine Auto Project and ended up ordering some special parts With one of the West coast's biggest show coming up, I thought it was time to refresh some of my exterior. I called up Ken from Shine Auto, inquiring about some new side skirts for my car. He talked me into trying out a new rear bumper concept, and I can not thank him enough for convincing me, it looks fantastic. But first, the sides:

Because I am running the FEED front, I thought some FEED sides would really tie things together before Wekfest SF this year. When Ken @ Shine offered to try a carbon accent on them, I was game! I picked up the sides, but one thing led to another and I ended up running my old Ings+1 side skirts. I still think these would look great and if I were keeping the FEED front, would already have these on my car!

For those interested, I believe retail on these sides with carbon accent is $500
(Please excuse the dust! - Also, those lines you see on the carbon are reflections.)

Now, onto the rear bumper! While I wasn't originally looking for a rear, Ken described the idea of a carbon accented Kenstyle rear and I just had to give it a try. No fiberglass fitting was required, just about plug and play for this rear bumper. I literally dry test fitted, dropped the bumper off for paint, picked it up, and installed it at home. Quality is honestly great, on par with what I would expect from an authentic piece. Quad tip exhaust should be complete in the near future, which will make this rear look even better!

For those interested, I believe retail with the carbon diffuser accent is $750 for this piece

Also FEED front and sides:

I have worked with Shine on a few products and have had no issues.

Just installed the first rear Kenstyle with carbon diffuser myself and fitment is superb, required no additional fitting.

If you notice on one of the first slides of their flash application, it mentions that the site is under construction/being update. Which is why the Rx-7 and 350z is the only cars on the site at the moment.
You can go to their backed up site by clicking on the slide that comes up as soon as you get to their site to check out their old site.

I believe it has been under construction for 2 yrs. Or, so it seems to me. To get information on RX8 you have to go into the forums.

Al - They've actually revamped it recently, and will hopefully be adding an RX8 section soon

Just call or email them if you are interested in a product. They are good at returning phone calls and emails. Also there is a good chance they have something that is not listed on ebay so be sure to ask what is available. I know they used to have an RX8 section on their site so they must have removed it. Good to see they are adding it back.

The guys at RX7club have always been fans of them because they have a repetition of making great reps. In fact, in most situations, their reps usually fit better than the originals from FEED, Sanai, Autoexe, etc etc.

I certainly hope Shine can make a good rep of the MS front. Preferably with corner light delete.

A MS replica from them would be great, but keep the corner light
Or offer it with an option to delete it. I use my corner lights as turn signals and think they add to safety that way, so I wouldn't want them deleted.

thanks for taking pictures of the before and after of the bumper. Can you take a measurement of how low to the ground the oem bumper is and then how low the new bumper is. feed front has been my favorite but after getting low i dont think i can swap the oem out.

If fitment is anything like my rear bumper, that body shop shouldn't charge you a dime for fiberglass work (aside from drilling the holes)

Absolutely. I don't have the car right now, but I can call the body shop and see if they can take a tape measure to it real quick. Or you can take a stock rx-8 and find out Mine isn't lowered. Yet.

And of course, pictures galore when It's done!

If mine looks half as good as yours does, I will be ecstatic :D

Also, this is what it looks like right now.

yeah, i want to try to get everyone who is getting an aftermarket kit to take extensive before and after pictures.

alot of kits have been around since 04, 05 but no threads on the fitment. Lots of threads on the finished piece after countless hours were spent making it look nice but whats the point in that right?

I want to see some pics of it first mounted and how many problems there are and where the problems are, this allows people in the future to know exactly what they are getting themself into. If the thread existed with an extreme dimensions kit and how it fit from the factory without any bodyshop touching it up, i would have linked you to it and you most likely would not have purchased from them.

a few pictures go a long way, as you know.. people get suckered into buying extreme dimensions over and over again because there are no fitment pictures from the factory. With these pictures im sure their business will go down(a good thing) and more money in our pockets(a good thing).

Im on a 2inch drop and i baaaaarely scrape getting out of my driveway. the feed front is my favorite with the rmagic bumper with cf lip in a close second. If its much lower ill just save my cash

EDIT: you might want to edit up those feed front pictures. None of them are shine parts, they are the real deal. If you do a search i believe the user "grog" got the feed front and after about $500 he got it to fit OK, but there was still some issues around the side markers. oh and then he totaled his car :/

EricB is you refer to the grey one posted above, that car is from Turkey, and the kit is from Shine. Those are the same pictures Ken sent to me last year when I enquired about the FEED front.

I talked to the body shop owner on Friday, he said there was some issues with the kenstyle rear bumper and my TurboXS exhaust and he's have to do some cutting to get it to fit correctly, so that's kind of worrying. He said other than that it fit perfectly and that he'd take some pictures of what he had to cut out. I'll know more on Friday, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't anything visible that he was cutting.

He also said he hadn't had time to mess with the front yet.
