Shark Fins
So what does everyone think of these? In terms of looks.... lol the guy in this thread got owned.. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...in#post1410048
I think they look cool....but idk if I should put them on my 8... Here is my 8 atm
So shall I add one of these onto it...
but a proper black one that matches with the paint??
I asked a technician @ my local garage who fitted my Pioneer rear seat Tv's and he said if linked to the sat nav / TV it would dramatically boost reception and with the right kit I could get freeview (UK based satellite channel service)
So opinions??

The only caveats are the car would need a rear spoiler and it's probably not feasible to modify an existing spoiler

Xenon headlamp washers. All / most cars with Xenon headlamps have to / have headlamp washers. This is due to the nature of the Xenon beam, and any specs of dirt / dust etc will make the Xenon light refract, and due to the high intensity of the light it can blind oncoming cars etc so hence the lamps have to be clean.

"Dirt buildup on headlamp lenses increases glare to other road users, even at levels too low to reduce seeing performance significantly for the driver. Therefore, headlamp lens cleaners are required by ECE Regulation 48 on vehicles equipped with low-beam headlamps using light sources that have a reference luminous flux of 2,000 lumens or more. This includes all HID headlamps and some high-power halogen units. Some cars have lens cleaners fitted as standard or available as optional equipment even where the headlamp specifications and/or prevailing technical regulations do not require them. North America, for example, does not use ECE regulations, and FMVSS 108 does not require lens cleaners on any headlamps, though they are permitted. Lens cleaning systems come in two main varieties: a small motor-driven wiper blade or brush conceptually similar to those used on the windshield of the car, or a fixed or pop-up high-pressure sprayer which cleans the lenses with a spray of windshield washer fluid."

Ah, so it's an INTENSITY issue. That does make sense, thanks for clearing it up, but X+7R3ME's explanation is still mostly bunk. There's nothing intrinsically different about the properties of xenon light, the Wikipedia entry even states that some halogen lights are sufficiently bright to warrant the lens cleaners.
But I'm still at a loss as to real need because I've yet to see an RX-8 with a less-than-spotless headlight cover!

No, that's actually correct. It's not that xenon light refracts differently, it's that it's much brighter than halogen so the glare effect is multiplied. US regs are totally different though, so that's why you don't see them here. From Wikipedia:

Yh all cars in the UK with Xenon headlamps have headlamp washers. But even Saabs without Xenon headlamps have washers, and old Volvos have the wipers on the headlight lol....like Jethro Tull said... the cars ive mentioned had halogen lights... maybe brighter then usual
The HID headlight systems available in Europe differ somewhat from those used in the United States. The problem of glare for oncoming drivers is lessened with European systems which feature a sharper horizontal cut-off in luminous intensity above the height of the headlights.
Nonetheless, with the European design on bumpy roads, the sharp cut-off bounces up and down, flashing into and out of an oncoming driver’s field of view.

But when I said it refracts differently now this isnt an issue now because of adaptive Xenon headlights as they move up and down depending on road conditions / humps/weight in car etc... and the fact that some headlights swivel/move when the steering is turned etc...

Interesting article about Xenon lights ^^
and back to the thread i like the idea of integrating an aerial or booster inside the spoiler... But I want satellite TV in my car lol .... so i need to find a way of getting a signal booster / antenna fitted elsewhere...
Check out the shark fin on the Saabs boot...does that lk good?
1 Aerial is for phone signal booster (phone prep. option) / sat nav and other for radio

lol ... I like the use of the word "Euros" ^^
Its true... Shark fins are popualr here. Many enw cars here have them and I can see why. They look so much nicer and make the car like sleek, sexy & stylish.
Lol or put 12 and make is look lyk an evo (well they are vortex generators)

I just think it ruins the look of the car, even on the Saab. Of course that is just my opinion. It is your car and if you like them................do it and make yourself happy. That's all that really counts.
