Rotor emblem,,,comments suggestions welcome
Hey peeps this is one of the three emblems I am currently working. For some reason its easier to do the more detailed one first, simple is difficult. Anyway here are some soldiworks screendumps. I do feel that this design is busier than what I want,,,The design was inspired by the previous gen Mazda logo(pre flying M) and recognizing that it resembled a Rotor on its side,,, Chime in and let me know what you think, suggestions are welcome and the other two designs are completely different, I have yet to build those but should be very soon within the week....
I know there are a couple other people out there doin emblems,,, If you need any dimensions let me know...I know angrybunny is looking for the dimensions of the standsVVV
center to center(center points of the stands) distance is 3.225in
offset from the center line(vertical) is up 1.031in

The rotor is to thick, you can see way to much of the profile, and the sides of the rotor are not curved enough. I think you would be better off placing the rotor "flat" against the emblem, so you can't really see the sides. I know you want a 3d look, but the emblem itself is going to be 3D, so it will still look good.
If you look at any of the rotor emblem designs that people sell here (ok, nobody makes a custom emblem, but they do make stickers and stuff), you'll see a common thread of looking the rotor straight on, rather then being able to see the side of it. It's just the way it looks best.
Edit: If you narrowed the rotor by 50%, and then rotated it down so it still fits in the emblem the way it currently does (with the rear of the bottom apex seal touching the bottom of the emblem) it might look pretty dope.
Keep trying! I've been waiting forever for someone to actually make a decent set of custom emblems for the 8. I'll pay good money if it looks good and you source a supplier.

^^^thanks for the comments socket, yeah I know what you mean about the 2D look,ie-40th anniversary badge, Mazdatrix logo, rotor logo, and just about every local rotary logo,,, I'm shelving this one for now I think the next two will be better. with a more stylized look and less technical feel... ....
