Thanks for all the comments, good and bad. i am deliberating whether to uninstall the fog lights or paint the mesh black. i think the fog lights behind the mesh, cheapen the look of the car. comments, suggestions or other observations please!

Car looks nice, however...

that license plate frame is lame. You debadge the front and leave on the 'free advertising' dealer frame.

yuck.

THIS KIT IS AWSOME, THE FOG LIGHS LOOK KIND OF FUNNY IN THE BACK, YOUR CAR LOOK GREAT...IN MY OPINION THE RIMS NEED SOME LIFE, THEY JUST LOOK PLAIN, A LIITLE MORE VOLKY RIMS WILL MAKE A BIG CHANGE, BUT OF COUSE THAT IS MY OPINION IF YOU LIKE IT LIKE THIS IS ALL GOOD...

Can you tell me where you heard that? I haven't sold any kit in CA yet and I only sold total of 4 kits so far. It's interesting that you heard from someone that has expereince with both original Mazdaspeed kit and mine.

I have the originals and I can tell you my kit is not flimsy. Take off your stock bumper and see how flimsy it is. Once it's bolted, everything is fine, right? Original Mazdaspeed kit is "flimsy" if you don't bolt it on the car. ABS plastic and fiberglass are flexible but that's not flimsy. It's just the property of the material. Yes, I can make you a bumper that's not flexible when it's not bolted on the car but it's going to weigh 30 lbs.

I am wondering how you can get the original Mazdaspeed for that cheap? It's way below cost.

http://www.mazda.co.jp/mazdaspeed

Even without shipping from Japan, you are looking at $3090 for those 3 items.

I will not suggest adding fiberglass yourself. If you really want some super heavy part, just let me know in advnace and I will make it that way. I thought people want to save weight.

But now tell us a bit more about the extra fiberglass that that you needed... how did you add it? Home Depot spray on fiberglass? :D

Also curious as to why you have no rear spoiler. Are you not going to add one at all, or are you just waiting on the perfect one?

So, hmmm..... at Trussville Mazda the Mazdaspeed kit costs $2742 excluding the rear wing, and the Rotary Extreme kit costs $1750, for a difference of $992. Paint and such cost $600, so the net savings is $392. Hmmmmm.......

That car looks like total @ss!!! JUST KIDDING MARK! I can't wait to see it in person Thursday. Looks good from the pics. You are asking advice on the fog lights, painting the grill... Chris and I will give you some feedback after we see it in person. From the pics IMO the grill looks fine. As for the comment on the rims, they look better in person.

I think it looks great, and I like the silver grille just fine. I would, however, mount your fog lights so they come through the grille, or possibly the oil cooler openings.

Chuck (rotaryextreme.com) will work with you in any way he can!! he's great! the silver grill was thrown in by him, thanks again chuck!

I kind of like the color of the grill. The one thing i may be changing is the fog lights.

i saw my car on your website chuck! does that mean roraryextreme.com will be sponsoring me this season?! :D

Congrats KC. In a way it's kind of unfortunate you paid someone to install the parts. It would have been informative to hear about your install impressions, and what (if anything) someone else could do better.

Be sure to keep us updated with news regarding fog light placement and how the parts hold up. Until then enjoy.

So what were you install impressions? Completeness of instructions, fitment, inclusion of accessory items like fastners, etc? Any advice you'd give others attempting to install the parts themselves?

Well, as Omicron wrote:

Check out www.trussvillemazda.com - the Mazdaspeed front bumper is listed at $1290, the Mazdaspeed rear skirt ("rear under spoiler") is listed at $732, and the Mazdaspeed side skirts are $720.
That's already painted for those prices - according to Trussville, that $2742 for those 3 components is $538 off suggested list, which means suggested list in the US for those 3 is only $3280 at any Mazdaspeed dealer.

Is the Mazdaspeed stuff urethane (good) or fiberglass (not as good)?

Urethane - too much flex = bends and comes back ; fiberglass - too much flex = cracks.

Check your PM Chuck, Rotary Extreme.

I like the Strakes with or without body kit. Gives it a more aggressive look.

what i was saying there Gordo is that all body kits flex...you can't, like chuck said without adding additional weight, make a more rigid kit...eventually someone will come out with some wacked out looking CF or Kevlar body kit...

the trick is not rushing the job and having help installing these parts in order to not "break" anything...

I always have found it hilarious when people add Urethane fender flares to their off road rigs and have them painted to match the vehicle...yeh like that's going to last...

Body kits are different since they are bolted on securely to the BODY of the car...sure flex is there when unmounted but what material isn't until it's secured...

I agree those rims dont go witrh that look. Plus add a spoiler and remove the fog lights behind the grill and it would look way better. I gotta say it looks good now, but IMHO it can look better .

Answering my own question - www.trussvillemazda.com says the Mazdaspeed kit parts are made of "MettonŽ liquid molding material" - essentially, urethane. That alone is worth paying extra over fiberglass pieces - sounds like the Mazdaspeed kit is the way to go for top quality at a reasonable price. (Along with Trussville, another forum sponsor, Rosenthal Mazda , is selling the Mazdaspeed kit pieces at less than full retail).

Regards,
Gordon
