anyone w/app pkg and front polished rotary symbol

I just got my front polished rotary symbol in the mail (thanks Trussville :p ) and was reading the installation directions and one of the steps is different depending on if you have the appearance package or not.

Can someone check out there car if they have both of these things installed and see if there would be any reason that if I would install the rotary symbol now, I couldn't install the front air dam later??

Can you scan the instructions? I'm curious on how to install. Looking to pick them up too now that they're in stock.

THIS, I can answer! I had ordered the appearance package with the car, but it was installed later, by the dealer. So, I have seen the stock piece and the front air dam piece.

There is no reason you could not install the air dam later, the problem is you would have to purchase another polished accent for the front. The rotor symbol (where you installed the polished accent) is part of the front assembly, and is replaced entirely by the air dam installation (the new rotor piece will be colored to match the body).

Look at the pics (link is in the signature) of my car, and you can see the transition to the air dam and what the new piece looks like (before the addition of the polished accent - I haven't installed it yet).

You may like it painted.

I don't have a scanner... its real easy to install them.

Basically, first clean the surface. Wipe on the "primer" they give you. Remove the backing on the 4 sticky strips on the backside of the symbol and stick the symbol on the car. Lastly there are 2 little screws you screw in on the inside sides of the symbol to further secure it and your done.

Strakes & rotor crest self install

I am from the UK and I have imported from Japan the Stakes and front Rotary crest.

Trouble is the instructions are in Japanese.

Would one of you guys who has done a self-install be able to post a set of the English instructions for these items?

Also any tips or guidence would be appreciated.

Cheers

Rich

I'm not trying to be smart, but please use the search function. I know the strakes install topic has been worn out long ago. There are many posts on the rotary accents as well...no need to go thru it all over again.

btw, real glad to hear y'all are finally getting your 8's over the pond. Finally getting to these topics, huh? Those threads are not closed, so a new post can bring them back to the front page, if you have anything further to discuss after reviewing them.

Thank you for your helpful response Matt - NOT

I did try a search, but there weren't any specific instructions to be found (and I can't read the Japanese one I have).- May be I'm not doing the search right.

That's why I thought I'd ask

May be I'll think twice in future - to save getting shot down.

Just did the crest today....clean area with alcohol, wipe with the primer in the kit, peel the tape, push crest in , its done...for the front, do not forget to put in the push screws..
And warm the tape with a hairdryer if it is cold..

Rich,
Whom did you buy from in Japan? Possible to ask them to translate them.....?

We translate the not so obvious instructions unless otherwise specified.

Remove Rotary Accent Package?

My car came with "chrome" front and rear rotary symbols, i.e., it has the Rotary Accent Package. I kinda like the one in front, but the one in back seems to highlight the lower black area under my bumper and I'm not sure it's flattering; maybe it makes the back end look too humped up.

I may PhotoShop it and try blacking the symbol out to see if it looks better without the accent; if so, then maybe I'll remove the accent.

Anyone removed these trim pieces? Was the black plastic under them damaged at all by the "primer" on them? TIA.

Hi:

If you are willing to sell the rear rotor accent, I'd be interested.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

I'll admit it: I was hoping to get some offers on it. Let me dig further into this possibility first and I'll give you guys, in the order you posted, a fair price if I decide not to keep it. Thanks.

Paint Front/Rear Rotary Emblems

<donning my asbestos underwear>

Has anyone ever considered using Testor's acrylic paint to simply paint their front and rear rotary emblems silver, instead of buying the polished aluminum accents?

It's a difference between $110 and $2.

Just a thought.
