I had those on a car back in the 80's. I haven't seen anything recently.

I don't know of anyone who has ever made louvers for the rx8. I'm sure you could find a shop that would fab some up for you. The cost would be pretty steep since they'd be "one off's".

It's your car, so don't worry about what other people say.

You might be the only RX8 with a louver. The last time i seen one is in the 80's.

Post pics if you get one and have it installed. I really want to see how it looks. Good luck and to each, his own.

99-04 Mustangs and 05-10 Mustangs had them. The 05-10 were factory optional. Only new car I know of that had them.

Saw a datsun Z with the louvered window cover and it looked really good, though, I think our rear windows are too steep for that.

It's steep and has a complex wrap around shape which would make creating louvers for it difficult.

some metal, a press break, good welding skills, and lots of spare time.. anything is possible.

My '80 RX-7 had factory louvres and it looked pretty hot...not sure it's an aesthetically pleasing look on the 8, however.

Back in the late '70's and early '80's, most sporty cars had them. I even had them on my '77 Plymouth Arrow. Both the Arrow and the 7 louvres lifted on hinges so you could easily clean the rear window.

the only downside is visibility. the 8 has enough blind spots as it is, not sure i'd be wanting to add more.

If done right, you can pull it off without restricting visibility too badly. The trick is to keep all the louvres planes convergent to the driver's eye height. If they are all parallel, then yes the visibility will suffer.
