Question about re-painting the entire car.
I have a velocity red 8 but I am thinking about painting it brilliant black.
The only thing I am bothered by is the fact that the entire frame wont be black because you would have to strip the car down to paint it completely.
Has anyone else done this and if so has pictures so I can see if it looks terrible or not? Like for example when you open the trunk the inside part would be red still but the outside is black.
I really want to paint the car black but can't decide if I should just have the outside painted or spend crazy amounts of money to have the entire car, frame and all, re-painted.
Thanks guys.

Zoom Zoom....
Briefly.
If you don't repaint everything, resale value will be greatly impacted. Ask yourself if you'd buy a black car with a red engine bay, and not wonder if the reason for the respray wasn't hidden damage.

I had a red miata that I painted green:
I took every panel off, painted in the engine bay and trunk. Unless you really really searched you couldn't find red. I even sprayed a light undercoat under the car so you wouldn't see red.
Now, I always buy black - easiest color change. Red is the worst.
VR is a beautiful color...(my opinion)
Really dude, its a ***** to do it right. You literally have to chop-shop the car (minus the sawzall). If you dont do dissassembly your self, its going to cost a lot. Add at least another $1500-2000 for that process on top of the avg. $3000 paint job. If you dont do it thorough, your resale will really hurt. In fact, paining alone kills resale. You have to be awesome to hide paint work.
I've color changed the same car twice and looking back - red wasa nice enough color. I also did the tear down, paint prep and reassembly. All I had was a guy shoot the car. Materials and his charge were $1000.
That was also when I was single and lived it home and had money to burn...

...yeah but then you'll notice all the black. At least with my goofy green; I knew I'd never see another!
For what its worth, I'm starting to lean on a black RX-8 so it'll be easier to do a 100% carbon fiber exterior. I was thinking of getting red, but I have plans...plus, black is easier to change color if I ever do (highly unlikely).

Eventually I want mine to look like this but with the mazda speed rear and the very bottom edge of the car painted black. So VR but along the bottom have black which is easy to do since i just have the paint the bottom edge of the front bumper and the side skirts.
