Paint Chip

This is a story of bad to worse. I started with a paint ship. When I touched up the paint it had a little bump on it but looked OK. So I try to sand out the bump with wet 2000 grit. This marks up my clear coat. Needles to say trying to fix my clear coat has made the problem grow. Currently I have touch up clear coat drying on my car. Tommorrow when it dries I will have an uneven portion of clear coat. I have searched and searched on how to smooth out the clear coat but am out if ideas.

My personal experience with the wet sand is that it introduces scratch marks in the clear coat (which is what I am trying to cover up). Does anyone know of a more detailed method of sanding out the clear coat to match?

Or what about buffing, using a glaze etc....
