New VLEDs installed, just some pics!

98 freakin degrees in my garage today, but went ahead and installed new VLEDs.
Think I might have to change those in the corners, I have more of the same type I used in the parking lights, didn't think it would matter until tonight.

H11_28_W_6K V-LEDS HID 6K WHITE 28 LED 2X BRIGHTER OUTPUT FOG BULBS H11 B/O

D2S_BULB_6K_B V-HIDS XENON HEADLIGHT BULBS D2S 6000K WHITE W/BLUE

194_4_RB_W_6K V-LEDS HID WHITE 4 M-SMT 2W HIGH POWER BULBS

Sorry, I didn't take any before shots, but here are the daytime pics after install.

Next post will be the evening shots.

Evening shots

This one shows the slight mis-match in the corners as I didn't change them from what I had.

I kinda like this shot....which I would've taken more time to compose it better.

Stupid me, didn't even notice that annoying parking lot light! And a little outta focus.
Look at the old convertible bug that pulled up in the background for an evening wave check.

Little fuzzy, but looking at matching

This ones kinda cool, even though really dark

Believe it or not.....those are Stealth.
I think it was the flash from the camera and or lighting angles that made them visible in the reflectors.
You normally can't see them as you would expect. I have them front and rear.

Oh...........I was expecting that question because I noticed it as well in the pics and was like WTF?

Look closer at the first pic in the daytime shots and you'll see.

I'm an 05............what model?
If you have a GT, then you have xenon which are technically(sort of) HIDs and you don't need to do a thing but swap them out.
Here's exactly what I just put in and are pics of what I listed in the first post............all from VLED's.

From the looks of your avatar(if that's your car), then you have fogs, so unless someone put them in aftermarket, then your headlights should be same as mine(Xenon....HID)

In 04 and 05, the Sport wasn't the base model, it does have fogs and HIDs (I have an 04 Sport). Click the link under my sig picture for links to the bulbs that I'm using (Mazurfer is using the same ones).

Oh, and why do you say that our lights are "sort of" HIDs, Mazurfer? They are HID.

Funny.....I was going to send him to your thread and then I got busy and had to log off. Thanks for setting him(and I) straight, I thought the Sport had them as well and if you had fogs as stock, then you had Xenon/HID.
In terms of the HID's, I just keep reading some on here that there is a debate in that the Xenons aren't exactly HID's even though I always considered them as such.

Not sure I have ever seen that debate. HID headlights use HID bulbs (D2S, D2R, etc) and a balast. The bulb doesn't have a filiment, but an arc of electricity that burns in a gas that is mostly xenon. That is an HID headlight and that's what we have in the RX-8. Really no debate.

Xenon, on the other hand, is a gas that is used in both HID headlights and some halogen bulbs. Those halogen bulbs that have a small amount of xenon in them are sometimes marketed in a way to trick people into thinking they will have HIDs if they install them. Maybe that is what you are thinking of?

I have a 04 GSport with no hid and fogs. I ordered some amber vleds for the parking and fogs (insidelights also), wanna see how bright they are before putting leds in headlights. Yours look really good. Are the led's brighter in hid setups?

You can't use LEDs in your headlights, they are NOT bright enough to drive by. Fog lights only.

IMO they are not even bright enough for fogs. I ordered some v-led amber fog lights, non-X2 version, and my corner bulbs were brighter. They were promptly sent back...

That HID kit they sell for $80 would be perfect for fog application. Thats about what you would end up paying for a pair of PIAAs... Plug and play with your harness but you have to run a power wire from both ballasts. The stock harness acts like a remote on.

Little research and you would have found this out. It's been covered in numerous threads Spense.

It shouldn't have been a surprise.

O I did the research my little friend but I wanted to see for my self. The problem isn't so much the output but the fact that there is a reflector shield surrounding the bulb. Since the LED bulb's diameter is larger most of these are covered up. This is an application problem and no soo much the bulbs. Still their output is pretty weak, as everyone has stated.

Amber LEDs have the least light output of all colors at the same power. White LEDs are much brighter. Effective foglights? Probably not, but neither are the stock H11's. Effective DRLs? Yep. Oh, and most of us remove the reflector cap when going with LEDs.

HIDs will work great too, especially if you are actually looking for functional fogs. I live in an urban area and that's not an issue for me, I'd rather be able to have them on all the time without blinding others.

I was planning to get one too, and installing it could be a hassle. I don't want to pay labor, labor may be more than the item is worth. Anyway, that light is like a 4th brake light though.
