Listen if you remove the rubber lining it will fit a lot better. but then you will have that water issue...

yeah i remember reading that somewhere else...maybe it was you. i don't want to worry about water tho... would there be any other way to seal it? or a less bulky type of rubber lining??

maybe i could remove the lining and hose down the car (after emptying my trunk)...i mean, the rain "gutter" in the trunk is still sunk down in...maybe it doesn't need the lining, it's just better to have it?

if you look at the first pic (of the whole trunk, nothing close-up), i think it looks fine. at least for my standards i guess. it looks WAY better than 6 rusted spoiler holes and 5 badge holes!! anyway, i might still try to tweak it...

ah, got it. well it was going to cost over $600 to get all the holes filled (remember i had rusted spoiler holes too), so it was a wash to buy a new cf lid. i'm surprised w/ how off it is, but again, to my standards it looks good now. if i could have purchased a guaranteed oem fit cf lid for more i probably would have. i might still try to lining part, it's not hard to pop off and on i wouldn't think, so for bad weather maybe i could just put it on. normally sunny weather here...

thanks for the comment drift king

yeah, i will, but in the short term, that weather stripping just comes right off and goes right back on, in about 10 seconds. it doesn't rain w/o warning here in austin (like maybe it does in say, florida) so it's not too big of a deal. i'll see what i can shave down on the inside or something. b/c however "high" that stripping is, it makes a big difference.
