New Hood Design
Has anyone heard whether an aftermarket company will be making a hood like the Mazdaspeed 8 in Speed Magazine? I for one would be very interested.
ps. Thanks to downshift for the images

According to the magazine, this is a one-off "Mazdaspeed" version done by some Mazda techs that wanted to push the '8 a little further. It may or may not ever be released.

Bunny Grill
I've been hoping someone would produce a Bugs Bunny grill with a couple of large teeth. Of course, I'd then need some custom mirrors shaped like bunny ears.

I was reading this article today in fact... This Mazdaspeed 8 is supercharged, the scoop is where it draws in the forced air for the supercharger... it's producing 275hp .. unfortunately they didn't show any pictures of the engine...

Eh... for whatever reason they mounted the inter-cooler on top of the engine, where the scoop blows on it... Dunno if that is BEST practice, but it is all according to the article...

The only advantage I see is the lower cost of manufacture since the pipework is a lot shorter.
Totally crap though from a serious performance stand point IMO.

Increased surface area exposed to direct air flow......... resulting in cooler intake temperatures.
Additionally, less chance of heat soak from the engine fouling the charged air flowing through the intercooler.
Even the WRC Subarus do away with the top mount in favour of the front mount.

Has anyone have any updates on development of a new hood design for our 8 that's like the one at the beginning of this thread. I would like to replace mine and I love that design..
