cheap knockoff that will cost you more to fit and paint than an original.....why buy an expensive car and garbage aftermarket?

very true. I know u think you are saving money but if you really dont care for your ride or plan on keeping it, showing it off
dont go for the knock off stuff unless you have a great body guy or know first hand its perfect fitment.it costs more in the end believe me I have seen it a million times around my way.

But see, these guys are kinda local from wehre i live. I can pick it up and they said if it is not a PERFECT fit, they will replace it. Is there really a big difference between replicas and originals??

there's american fiberglass and japanese fiberglass. japanese fiberglass is tougher and more durable because it is handlaid. there is also urethane.

I hate to burst your bubble dude, but please don't get that kit. Do yourself and the rest of the 8 community a favor and buy the real deal from someone, or just do the factory appearance if you don't want to spend a whole lot. Buying these garbage kits just keeps these ******** in business, and their business is making cheap knock offs, telling you they fit perfect, then when you recieve your kit and the fitment is WAY THE F OFF, they hide behind the phone/whatever and never help you out. Or they tell you there is guaranteed fitment, or they give you some bullshit like "it's not an oem part, it's not going to line up perfect". I had a huge problem with the MSPeed kit from carbon creations, I got the urethane one trying to save a little money, and that kit was horrrrrible, plus they gave the bodyshop all kinds of hell when they tried to send it back. Don't do it man, just save up and do it right or don't do it at all, I can promise you that you will be absolutely unhappy and disgusted with your ride if you cut corners like this, and you will have to live with it. In the long run you're not even saving that much anyway (a couple of hundred bucks tops if that). I'm speaking from experience here, not just opinion or on what other people have posted in the past.

They all say that. Make them put it in writting.

Then if the fit is perfect it may still need alot of cosmetic prep work before painting.

It will cost $ to get it painted.

you can pay to get it done right on a replica... it just might cost you more than an authentic.

I dont see why anyone would ever buy a fiberglass kit anymore, unless the car is a trailored show car. If you plan on driving your car, and if one thoes streets you'll be on there might be even the littlest bit of debris, you do not want to be running a fiber front bumper.
Think of it this way... you curb a Urethane kit and it gets scratched, and you need to repaint. Curb a fiber kit and it cracks, forcing you to buy a new one, or repair with resin, which will never look smooth again. If you got into a little front end injury, this is wat youre looking at:
($300 FG bumper + $250-$400 paint and fit) x 2 = $1100-$1400 if you need to replace
$600 Uth bumper + $250(it WILL fit) paint and fit+ $150 repaint = $950 if you need to repair

Make the smarter investment, dont be hastey, and as someone else said, why skimp on such a sweet car?

Spend the extra $$ man. Don't fall for that ebay BS. Trust the guys that have done it already. You used to be able to get lucky on some imitation stuff....but that was back in the day when they cared (Carisma mr2 widebody kit was pretty damn decent). But look at the big picture also......Some genuine kits actually help on the resale value of the car. For example, put that cheap knockoff on the car and you'll pay $$$ for a body guy to correct the flaws and adjust the fitment and then you still normally lose $1k-$3k in resale value when you sell the car...but put a genuine Mazdaspeed Kit on and have paperwork to back you up-- then you may have spent $4k more on a high quality kit, but expect to be able to sell your car for a couple thousand more than before also.
