Name that Car paint!!

Okay so i've seen a few vehicles before that had this awesome aggressive looking phantom/shadow/stealth looking black paint job, just a really aggressive look, it wasn't matte black and it wasn't flat black, it was just a really stealth looking black color. I've been trying for the life of me the google the name of it but every time i search it always sends me to flat or matte black images. I know at some point someone up here has seen a car paint job like the one im trying my best to describe please help!!

try matte Black or semi gloss black Vinyl. vinyl compared to paint looks a bit different so maybe thats what you are looking for?

I don't think it was either of those :/

I've always liked the matte black color but ive never seen it on an rx8 except for that one totally decked out racing rx8. Do you know of any matte black rx8s somewhere between stock and just a body kit?

Are there different variations/shades of matte black?

Here are 3 good example of well done Black Satin paint jobs with good clearcoats.

Now listen here, i'm not one of those hopes and dreamers, this is going to happen in about 2 weeks, already put 1/2 down at the paint shop. Look forward to it

Too much clear ruins it IMO. I especially like the light diffusion on satin paintjobs.

Let us know how it turns out and how you deal with fingerprints.

Matte/satin/whatever looks cool but when i saw one done to a rx7 in person there were sign all over the car not to touch the paint. Everytime you touched it, it left a fingerprint.

goodluck and show us some pics when its finished.

You can always wash the car to get rid of the fingerprints.
Btw paint shouldn't be a stress to deal with. I'm actually thinking about repainting my car from velocity red to either blaze or vintage red just because it's cheaper and less fancy.

for some reason theres something in our brains that tells us to touch the paint of a car that has a matte appearance. Its quite interesting. I know when i first saw the rx7 i went to touch it and then saw the signs so out of respect for the owner and mazda i didnt touch it.

Im not so sure about the fingerprints, washing it might get rid of 75% of the fingerprints but you may have to buff some of them out with some elbow grease, but what does that do to the paint?

I wash my car once a week and i hate driving a dirty car, id go insane if my car was dirty and couldnt get fingerprints off of it.

If you are serious then go for it though, i think it might be a lifestyle change, similar to one if you owned a bucket seat, same thing just a little more pain in the *** to get into the car. Youll be spending your time cleaning the car.

The last time i washed my car was still summer... and i have 1000mi of happy bugs still waiting to be removed from the bumper so my point of view may be differente but yeah, fingerprints are annoying.
The clear coat is a real clearcoat with some "additive" to avoid gloss, don't worry about fingerprints.
