my mazda dealership has a mazdaspeed shop in it! (olympia WA) they know all about the mazda speed parts, and how much they can get away with selling them for.

kel i think i'm more excited about your purchase than you are...if all goes well i'm definitely getting one as i really detest the backend of my 8 without any spoiler at all...it looks so plain to me

I ordered one also with a delivery of Tuesday it seems they took a while to ship also. They sent me a tracking number last week but did not work until today. So I will give feedback also.

Ahhh, Kel and leegina...waiting is the game isn't it. I am waiting too but not for the MS Spoiler replica but for the MS side skirts replicas that I ordered. I got a tracking number for DHL shipping and they are saying to expect them on the 14th, so this is one day later than yours. Can't wait to see the spoiler, one of you guys take pics of it when it comes out of the box and give us some feedback for this. Even though I have a non-OEM aftermarket spoiler that I do like, I have always drooled over the MS spoiler and have dreamed of it sitting on the back of my RX-8. It's gotta add at least 15 HP. :D

On a side note, the place that I placed my order for the side skirts has a feature that I am checking into. They do custom replication and claim about a two week turnaround. So, anyone have any ideas for any other replicants of products for the RX-8? These items are made of FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics) and are much tougher than the old Fiberglass manufacturing process.

Here is a copy of the email reply I got from them about my inquiry of having the MS spoiler replicated:

I can have it made in carbon fiber, for a retail of around $500
Dealer cost of 10+ would be $325

Carbon is a much better material , and lighter than FRP

For a FRP version..
FRP $249 retail
FRP 10+ dealer cost would be $124.6

Approximate time needed - 6 months made overseas
Made in USA approx 1 month but add +50 to FRP cost
And +150 to carbon cost...

So, with the mirrors my only concern would be if they functioned as do ours. That would be more so mechanical than a body panel of some sort. I will write back and ask them. I registered as a wholesaler the other day just for preparation of a future sale, perhaps. If at some point we would have some interest in this as a group, I would be willing to handle the bsuainess end. Just a thought at the moment. Can you imagine a CF MS spoiler replicant for $325 before shipping? First thing though is I have to see the quality of the side skirts. I wonder what it would cost to have the entire body done in CF? J/K LOL :D

If Mazda would sell something that clearly isn't 450% profit, maybe they wouldn't. Come on, almost $900 for a spoiler? Perhaps this is the kind of thing that promotes competition and brings down the prices of the brand name product.

Japan8, No I sold that once the MS replica came available. also I do not have the stock spoiler mine was a base model. So now I have to drill holes and I am hoping they give a template with this spoiler.

I sent off an email to ask about having the mirrors replicated also. Probably will not hear anything until next week.

I was thinking that maybe with these, and I haven't made any mention of this yet, that they could be replicated as bodies of this style and that the internal parts of the stock mirrors could be placed in these. This would be a slightly different design in that the stock and MS mirrors are not the same size yet the MS style does not have the remote control ability or the heated features that the stock mirrors do have. Just a thought.

However, I did not mention this at all and will let everyone know what becomes of the original replicant request without the above information. I asked for both the FRP and the CF estimates.

Thumbs up

way to go dennis
yeah real m/s wing is nuts for $900 dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the wing at all.but the price is .........ouch.

i only heard of rotary extreme making replica m/s carbon fiber colors at that.
but there prices should make them real m/s parts the spoiler they sell is $1100.00

but the prices you got are great.i want the m/s mirrors so let us know.
but it all depends also on the side skirts you receive make sure to take pixs
of it all.

as im planing to take thousands of pixs of the spoiler i get this tuesday
ahh so far way. :D

I'll be sure to get thousands of pics of the side skirts too! I'll be posting them on Wednesday provided they come in as planned. :D Thinking of teh MS Wing replicated in CF at that price provided I could get a group buy going or something to that effect...even if I didn't care for CF, then it could always be painted since the FRP would have to be painted too...it would be stronger but the real answer is total cost when finished and installed.

Those mirrors do look so nice though...however, I would hate to lose the electric remote control and heat functions.
