First of all, thank you for coming in and read this!! : )

I am planning to get the ms body kits replica, the urethane one, but i am not sure which brand is good. I've found a few brands :

1) Vfiber

2) Raceon

3)extreme dimensions

4) Vis Racing

which one is good? in terms of how easy to install.....

come on, let me hear your opinion!!

Honestly, get the authentic kit. It's covered by your insurance because it's an OEM part, the fitment is perfect, it's pre-painted, and you can put it on yourself.

I think those replicas cost just as much as the real kit, if not, just a little cheaper.... I think. Try and get the real thing... if not.... then, I've had good experiences with VIS, and bad with ED. I've never dealt with the other companies.

lol....... everyone votes for option (5)

ok, then What would be the best price that I can get for a real Ms front bumper?

The best price I've found so far is around 1300. For replica, it's around 420, so does that mean after the painting and installation , it would be almost 1300?

by the way, what material is the OEM front bumper made of? is it urethane?

The MS bumper seems expensive, but the fact that it's covered by insurance makes it the easiest choice. If you get in a collision, you've probably got an 80% chance that some damage will be done to the kit. If you have some other body kit on there your insurance won't cover it, but the MS kit is an OEM part so you've got nothing to worry about.

Replicas almost never fit, and the body work required for a perfect fit costs a lot of money.

You found a replica body kit that is urethane for $420? Where?
I'm guessing you might have read that by mistake, and it's a fiberglass kit for $420. But, let's say you get the replica for that price... a good paint job on it will probably cost around $300-$500, depending on how much work needs to be done to them (most replicas will not fit perfect). Then, and this is just a total guess, let's say another $100 for someone to install it. So you're looking at almost a $1000. The real deal comes painted and with the hardware to install it like it came from the factory that way.

I think the OE bumper is ABS plastic.

That is the site for VIS, but I don't know if they have any of the MS replicas. I ordered a kit from them for one of my Honda's back in the day.

It doesn't matter if it's an OE or aftermarket kit to the insurance company or not. Did you mean warranty?

Yes actually it does matter if it's an aftermarket part. If it didn't matter I would put the Autobahn kit on my car and if I ever crash it tell the insurance company that it's a rare kit and worth $5k.

You can buy additional insurance for aftermarket parts, but if you buy a turbo for your car and get in an accident and need a new engine do you honestly think the insurance company is gonna shell out an additional $3k for the turbo?

Who do you have insurance with? I ran off the road in my Suby, and pretty much tore half my front bumper off (C-West), and they replaced it no problem. All I had to do, was show a receipt or invoice of how much it cost.

How many times have you seen a car get broken into and insurance cover the sound system that was stolen? Those aren't OE parts. I've made sooooo many claims on my insurance, and I've never paid for additional insurance. As a matter of fact, I have taken off just about everything on my insurance.. i.e. rental car assistance.. just so it would be cheaper.

Anywho... back on topic...

Hey tian,
This is sam.
I was also considering about those four different companies' replica kit because I didnt want to spend too much money on the bodykit, however I decided not to go with it after I saw one rx8 with replica ms bodykit. The paint was good but the fitment was terrible.
It just looked not right.

alright, guys!!! authentic kit!! everybody votes for authentic kit!!

before this post, i was so determined that i am going to get the replica, but now i really feel like i m gonna have to rethink about it.

The big problem i m having now is that i don't know what the actual price for authentic. Has the price of authentic kit been dropped in the past a few years? cuz i remember 2 years ago, the MS front bumper itself would cost something like 2500$ (if i remember correctly).

Does anyone know the actual price now?

For the insurance thing, i believe it works a bit different in the place i live. I'll phone the insurance company and ask them about it.

again, thanks everyone, for the valuable suggestions!!!

yeah go authentic. i got the extreme dimensions front bumper and i will give them credit for materials used. ive bottomed it out a million times and my fiance bumped a concrete parking divider (the little 4 inch high thing between parking spots) and i have no cracks and no paint spidering just some scratches. as far as fitment goes, it good. now. it was terrible when i got it, and took a ton of time.

ugh, all these haters on the forums.

the complete ms kit costs nearly 3 grand!

holy crap. you can buy an entire replica kit for under 1 grand, and then get it painted and properly fitted for under another grand. total cost = a few hundred under 2.

and warranty and insurance are different. the insurance company will replace whatever you break. you just have to show them how much it was worth. a warranty on a body kit is .. uh... well it seems ridiculous to me. what is it gonna do, fall off? if you installed it yourself, mazda wont cover it.

take my statement on replicas with a grain of salt, as i dont know how bad the fitment on replica kits can be. but seriously.. if you have the money, go for it. but if you dont... stick with the replicas. personally, if i get any kit it will be the shine auto parts replica kit that photomunkey has.

+1 on going with Shineautoproject, I'm in on the FEED GB
I'd avoid ED because from what I heard of their fitment from everyone who's bought from them, ED really means Extreme Dimensions with emphasis on "Extreme" not accurate!

I thought the same thing till we bought the ED Kit... We spent easily 4g's on just paint & body work, not to include the kit. The ED fitment is just disgusting With a good shop it can look good Even still after looking at the car a few more times since we got it out of the shop, it will have to go back in. Not good at all, but its what we get for hoping for the best & not get authentic R-Magic.
