Love my red leather hand brake...
Just installed the red leather hand brake and love it. I wasn't sure it was going to be worth the money and effort but it was simple to install and looks great. The leather matches the other red leather interior trim and the stitching ties in perfect with the steering wheel. I also never noticed the aluminum style button until installing the leather brake. I thought the oringal brake was somewhat ungly and oversized but no longer think that about the leather hand brake, this is probably due to the 2-tone color.
All are personal opinions but thought I'd pass on my observations since others may be considering the leather hand brake.

I wasn't considering it until now. Your picture is the only one I've seen that makes the rea leather hand brake look like it's work having.
I don't know whether to thank you or .....
...well, my wife won't thank you :D
I just got hold of the B-pillar garnish today, haven't fitted it yet though - holding it up against the car looks really good.

g-day Kev,
How's Sydney these days. I lived in Melbourne from early 94 to late 96. I spent quite a bit of time in Sydney. Both are beautiful cities. I owned a Miata or should I say MX-5 when I was their.
Funny thing, I move to Atlanta after the Olympics and from Australia just before.

Nice! Now you'll need the shift **** to have the full red trim in the car.
I'm having the red interior too, but will wait til I've the car then decide to get the brake handle and shifter **** or not.
What's all those buttons before the shifter for? I don't get them here.
Cheers

How easy was it to install the brake handle, the instructions looked like ya had to dismantle a lot of the interior to do it...
Also where did you get the illuminated shift **** from and for how much?
Thanks
-Chris (wanting black leather handle and black leather illuminated shift **** )

It really irks me that the parking brake and shift **** wasn't part of the color coordinated leather interiors. I have already installed the parking brake handle (get all your US parts from TRUSSVILLE MAZDA! - GREAT PRICES) and have the illuminated/colored shift **** on order from Japanparts.com
All these lil "accessories" are starting to add up!!!! :D
By the time I get done installing all these damned extras... I'll be close to $40K! (without NAV!)
Oh well... guess it's still cheaper than children in the long run. Not that I wouldn't mind having a rug-rat... but if I did, my 8 would be pretty plain.
Peace

It doesn't bother me.
Not everyone wants a red leather hand brake, illuminated shift ****, aluminum door sills, etc... If they included all that stuff the car would cost more and everyone would have the same car.
It's almost like being able to save $3500 bucks by purchasing your RX-8 without wheels and tires? You could then use the savings towards your own wheels and tires.
This is just my personal opinion, I don't want get into a huge discussion about cost vs. price.
