Almost done wiring the E11 and then it will go the Dyno for tuning. My goal is low 11's still keeping it some what of a street car.
Doing stuff to the RX8 has slowed down the RX7 project.

if i waz to get this it would have to be eazy to use and the back doors would have to be usable. my car is a daily driver right now so i want it to look good and be just as useable as the stock doors. besides that there kool as hell and i would love to have them.

if the doors are going to be functional and easy to get in and out of. and hopefully looks good, and the motion should also look good.
if those criterias are met, then i'll prob get one. coz i am having trouble getting ppl into the rear seats in tight parking spots... think a lambo door might do the trick.

i think it cheap"ens" the the look of the car...sure it works on show cars but that's just it...it's for show..i think it's a stupid idea and would shun any 8 I saw with those installed...ugly...absolutely a teenage Honda Civic genre type mod...

i think i was the very first person that got into the lambo doors. but considering the fact im sitll waiting to get my car and my license, i didnt put any action into gettin the kit for the lambo doors. seeing this excites me. and aftre reading everybody's comments, i think lambo doors are good.
if people watch pimp my ride, the civic that got these lambo doors were from VDC. well if yu watched the hinge, it's fairly simple. its a block that just brings yur door up. so i guess the problem about whehter the door will give enough clearance for ppl to get in shuldn't be one. just make the hinge a little bigger.
and the automatic part, i did some research and i found a company in canada that already had it. but...its slow...as hell. there's a video of it. now they also have shaved door handles so that gave me an idea...hm..shaved door handles and auto lambo doors. but the speed is so slow its pathetic.
lets just say yur street racing and the cops come by, yur most likely gonna run. well..how can yu run if yur doors is so freakin slow. yu have to wait. -_-" so while the doors go up yur just standin there waiting for yur damn doors to open. and soon the cops will surround yu. so my point is, if yur goign to do auto lambo doors, make them quick and efficient. otherwise it'll be just strictly for show cars.
yah and most likely the lambo doors wil be --> and then up. and oh it motion shouldnt look bad.
let me add one more thing. whoever's donig this, i forogt the name, um...i think if yu add a noise to it so it not only looks good but sounds good. yu knoow those noises wheree yu open a door or whatnot and it makes that woosh noise, or kinda like hydraulics goin up and down. if yu can incorporate that noise into the door while yur openin and closin it, that'd be tyte. but yeah its jsut an idea. if yu were relaly gonna do that then, i think yu wouldnt be able to keep it as a bolt-on kit.
-i hope this has been useful.

Consider your scenario - how stupid is it to suggest you'd run if the cops come? So the cops sieze your car, and you do NOT get it back. Bye bye, RX-8 and the thousands of dollars blown on stupid scissor doors. Then, they have your plate and address - you get home, hello cops and jail.
My point is, life is not a movie - your whole fantasy post above is just ridiculous. THINK, don't dream and assume it's real. Be safe and have REAL fun, don't waste your life trying to emulate something that's not real anyway.
Regards,
Gordon

hehe all too true Gord96. Running from the police is plain stupid especially if they're metres from you. they will track u down one way or another and the consequences will multiply. think b4 u do something.
and also, i think the fast and the furious series were entertaining movies, however its unrealistic. certainly there are alot of street racers out there, however, the real atmosphere of it aren't exactly like what was shown. street racing is illegal and very dangerous, and there are better ways of enjoying your car like Gord has mentioned.
Normally, lambo doors take 3-4 seconds or so to open, and from a remote 15 metres or so away.... for the sake of convenience, u can always press to open slightly b4 u arrive so by the time u're next to the car, the door would be fully opened. and closing it (some are manual, others are eletronic as well) shouldn't take too long, considering the other procedures u'd have to do such as fastening of seat belt and making sure mirrors and such is at the correct position.
and also... make it sound good? i mean as long as it doesnt sound bad, it should be ok, not worth it if it has to cost nemore or be more complicated simply to get a good 'swoosh'. but thats up to invididual oppinions.
if its within that price range mentioned and is reasonable quality, it'd be a good buy nevertheless.

Well, I don't blame him he said he didn't have his license yet and I thought like him when I was 14/15, (I'm 17) but now that I have my license and a $31,000 car, there will be NO street racing unless it's just a quick see who can accellerate faster on the highway with a buddy.
ANYWAY, back to the main subject, I'm surprised that the 8 doesn't already have Lambo I just got mine last friday and thought they would be out by now. But breezy if you can pull it off with $1300 or less you definatly got my buisness (automatic or not) I'm a HUGE fan of lambo doors and back in the day when I was thinking of getting an RSX there was no doubt I was getting Lambos. But if you can pull this **** off and I hear that your trustworthy you'll be a rich man.

For those of you who go to shows, the in thing right now are lambo doors. It's becoming some what common. But then again, there are hardly any quality rx-8's in the scene.
Nice Stuff.

The door looks to only raise about 1 - 1 1/2 feet higher than an average person...that would have to be an awfully small garage to not be able to open them up all the way.
And yes, I think they look pretty cool...but most of them look like they don't leave very much room to actually enter/exit the vehicle. I was just browsing through a magazine while getting my oil changed this weekend, and saw the real deal...almost the whole door opening was visible/accessible with the real thing...not half to three quarters blocked off by the door!

WHy would someone want those doors? It kinda defeats the suicide doors which is one of its selling points. If you didnt want the original car then why not buy something else that would have much better performance or room or drivability.
Please ... I bought my 8 for a piece of history... not to be hacked into something not even remotely resembling an RX8.

I had a Mitsubishi Eclipse 99 that I put those doors on, even though they say it is easy IT ISN'T! You need at least 3 people and one with fabrication experience, the door no matter how universal never fits right, you have to bend, loosen, tighten, drill, and shift the door all at once to get the line just right. Even then when it shuts it is again thrown off by the latch. so where the cost may be $1200 you will spend another $500 to $600 at the body shop.......
