Your young, but your not invisible to cops, they watch you a lot closer. So try not to do some crazy **** with your car when you get one unless you have alot of money and can take a lot of greif.

If I understand from MStyles correctly,

All he did was mix up some clear coat and tint it with some factory BB and then sprayed it on. I am not certain if he scuffed the lenses first or not.

better to wet sand the lense for easier application of the tint paint. then clear coat it for a gloss look.

or clean and lubricate the surface and lay up vinyl on it.

first application probably won't need a wetsand. Just a thorough cleaning and the spray should stick just fine and the lense will probably end up looking more clear without the first wetsand. But you definetely should wetsand between layers. 2000 grit or so should be good.
so basically...
Prep (cleaning, masking off parts)
Layer, let it dry, and wetsand, repeat for however dark you want
Wetsand wetsand wetsand!
Clearcoat, let it dry, and wetsand x2
Polish
Polish
Polish
Polish
Wax, or some kind of protectant.
Should be good. Just make sure you apply evenly

My brother-in-law did this really easily on his SRT-4. He went to Wal-Mart, picked up some light window tint, and then cut it to fit his tail light. It was cheap but doesn't look it. Just another idea for you.

I just bought some Lexan smoked film off of eBay, that was pre-lasercut for the tails...some water, a blow dryer, and a little bit of time and they were all done.
