I am listening and I am on it guys.

To help estimate shipping cost you guys can go to fed ex http://www.fedex.com/ratefinder/home...&locId=express
The ship from zip code will be 91789 The shipping size and weight for the GTC-200 is 63x15x6 and 18lbs. the gurney flap is 73x5x5 and 10lbs (total package not the actual flap alone) APR says they can package the gurney flap inside the wing box. So add maybe 4 lbs to the wing, but it doesnt matter because its dimensional weight. The GTC-300 is 74x15x15 and 28lbs. The gurney flap is the same as above. Risers add 1lb and can be packaged with the wings also. |
I am definitely in!

APR wing deal
For all you guys that compete with your car, I can tell you this, these thing work!! And work really well. A top of the other aero mods I have done to my car, this made quite a difference in my cars mid and high speed handling.
So for this price, you guys should really not pass up on this deal.:fingersx: |
This shipping from location is my backyard almost. Is there a way I can pick it up or do I have to still do the shipping?

I wonder how effective the wing will be on the track without a good functional splitter. I wont have my splitter ready by my next track day, I will probably do a back to back test between the Mazdaspeed wing and the GTC-200. I am thinking I can get the same down force or more with the GTC-200 with less drag then the MS. The question is how much rear downforce can I use before causing understeer. |
What do you use between the wing and the trunk? Rubber or 3m double sided sticky?

There's a 3rd hole on each side from the OE wing that doesn't get covered by the APR mount. If the wing was installed by a 3rd party they may not have drilled them, as they are just for a pop-in type plastic locator clip and only hold the wing in place when the hold-down bolts are removed. Unfortunately I drilled and used them when I installed the Mazda wing on my car. I plan to use a small piece of colored duct or cloth tape to seal them off on my car. My trunk lid also shows a marring line on the finish from the outline of the OE wing. It won't buff out completely as it's worn down below the top coat surface. Not really an issue for me since it's a competition application rather than a show car. I also have a spare non-wing trunk lid I could use instead if it mattered to me.

also APR wing>MS wing

You don't have to unless you want the exact #s. Otherwise the APR design exceeds the MS design in every way.

How do you plan to measure the down force?
Basicly I will run several laps with the mazdaspeed wing then switch to the APR and run some more, adjust the wing and run several more, adjust it again and run more. I will keep track of top speeds down the straights (can go down because of drag, can also go up because of a higher turn exit speed), entry/exit speeds of the turns and overal lap times. I still love the MS wing for its clean street look but Mark is right, the APR wing is just a better track wing. But only when adjusted correctly for the vehicle/track and as part of a complete track aero package. If you stick this wing on a stock body, stock ride height and adjust for maximum downforce, you will cause understeer in the turns and you will increase drag which will reduce top speeds. |
All of those that have the wing. What pitch angle are you using. I used a ruler from the back of the wing where the gurney flap corner is. Not on top of the flap. To the front. The middle section. All the way down no adjusting came to be 7 deg. I have it set at 18 now. Just wondering what angle you guys are using.
|
can anybody tell me the regular price for both wings? how much discount for this group buy? if the price is right, I might actually be in this.
Thanks! |
The info for both of you is on the APR Performance website
|
I was just wondering what you guys were personaly using. I've gone over the website. Checking to see how everyones differ from mine. I'm still playing with the angles.
|
if you've been to the website then why do you have it set at 18 deg?????????????????????
|
That's why I asked. And also why I stated how I measured the angle. I obviously don't have the tool they sell to measure it. I know 18 is way to steep but if what I measure is 7 from the start meaning 0 because it was at no adjustment then 18 would correlate in to 11 which is near max recommend. Anyways it's not nearly as much anymore. I'm afraid my trunk would cave under pressure. Thanks anyways.
