Front Lip Question

I'm going to have to replace the undercover as it has come loose (currently duct tape is helping hold it in place). The problem is I need to make sure I get the right part...

So I'm having trouble figuring out if the rotary symbol is part of the front lip? If you can tell from the pic, it's loose also.

It looks like I'll need the undercover and front lip but is there any other part I would need for this?

The rotary accent piece is held on with double sided tape.

Hold up, lets make sure we're on the same page.

The V you're talking about can be one thing or the other.

All Rx8s have a V whether stock or GT appearance packaged.

This V, if you don't have the GT appearance package, is simply part of a lower connecter that the plastic underbody panel connects to.

Now, if you do have have the GT package which has the only factory front lip/spoiler (I think they call it the air dam), the V is actually part of that lip/spoiler and the underbody panel also connects to it.

Also available, is a V cover. This is just a fancy cover, usually satin or chrome whatever, that is placed over the existing V that all Rx8s have.

So by looking at your picture, I know for a fact that you do indeed have this satin/silver cover. Not all Rx8s have that. But you can get them in a lot of cool colors from places like rx8strakes.com.

What I don't know is if you have the basic stock underbody tray connector or if you have the Appearance package air dam. Remember, they both have the V.

Can you get a picture of the front of your car?

You said "lip" in your opening post, and you also mentioned a replacement underbody panel. So I'm going to assume you need the GT appearance package air dam, which would be the piece the underbody panel connects to.

And about your V cover, you could take that off and put it on your new body piece to add that fancy flare to whichever part you need.

Maybe I just confused you more.

They're different.

8s with out the appearance lip use a small thin plastic body piece that isn't really seen too much from the exterior. Its a functional connector so that the underbody panel can attach to the car.

8s with the appearance lip uses the spoiler as the connection from car to underbody panel. Its functional and gives good form(appearance) at the same time.

Both these parts have a rotary shaped piece molded to them.

Now the V cover, as you know it "accent", is a shiny V shaped...cover...that goes over the existing V whether it is the simply base model front piece or the appearance package lip.

If this guy has the appearance package lip, and he's got a loose under body panel because the lip broke (I have the GT/appearance package and my spoiler broke which made the underbody panel sag, and somebody tells him to get the base model part, then he will be left with holes in the bumer, and possibly scratches as well, because the lip is connected to the low part of the bumper though little bolts.

I just don't want him to have that problem.

If I'm wrong or said something incorrect let me know. But through my own experience with this same (well, almost the same) problem, I believe that is how it is.
