i think 11 is enough. besides, by the time we all put them on people would be running at the oppourtunity to order them from shine right? youd sell way more then 15 of these imo.

fortunatly enough for me it's easy to be patient while I'm in Iraq! But yeah, let's rock this, seriously, it can't be that hard to get four more. Even if not, just 10 sales rakes in good profit for shine I would assume, and they'd have another product to add to their line.

15 is the magic number guys Most of the group buys we have are OVER 15. 15 is the minimum.

The Vertex group buy isnt going anywhere until we 15 as well. The reason why we put it in the
group buy section is because the interest thread generated about 20 people.

If this had at least 15 interested (keep in mind no deposits are collected for an interest thread), then I would do an official group buy for it.

Think about it guys. 20 guys on the Vertex interest list. Only 3 are serious when it comes to leaving a deposit. Money talks. Trust me guys. I have alot of experience with this .

Shine,

I cannot speak for the others in the FEED list, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm willing to make the deposit right now, if you require it.

You are correct ...... money talks and bullshit walks.

CRAP! 5 more people! But Shine is right- how many people here are actually gonna throw down the green when the time comes? I have a feeling some of the people on this list won't (just taking the odds....). Not to mention, the first 3 were signed up when this thread started roughly 9 months ago, who knows if they even fequent this board anymore and/or are interested? I mean, if the Vertex kit had 20+ people in the interest thread, now only 2, that's is no good
We need to generate more interest in this.......

Example: FEED front bumper

PRICE:
$1,300 Original FEED includes estimated import duties and taxes, shipping, etc.
$ 580 Shine replica includes shipping door-to-door
______
$ 720 Savings if we buy Shine replica

QUALITY:
Original FEED is made of FRP (brittle)
Shine replica is made of Hybrid FRP (flexible)

FITMENT
Original FEED may or may not have fitment issues and you are left to your own devices
Shine will make best efforts to adjust fitment issues before delivery

MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE
Original FEED --> no such luck
Shine --> will exchange if defective or money back

OTHERS
Original FEED --> Japan-based, so tough luck if you'll have problems
Shine --> US-based, so you can still make suggestions for kit adjustments, have all your questions answered, you can even have your RX8 test-fitted at their facility.

CONCLUSION:
It is NOT a question of being cheap.
It is a question of being economically sane.

If I can have a product that is equal to or better than the original, then why should I fork an extra $720 when I can use that same $720 to buy other stuff like CF hood, or RB or Borla exhaust, or go to a top-notch body shop for paint with the extra money that I saved?

It just makes economic sense.

Wow. Thanks for highlighting the benefits. That's more thorough than how I would've done it.

"Money Talks... Bullshit Walks"

I like that. I might used that on every group buy thread that we do

The Shine kit is better qualitly. More flexible so paint won't chip. It isn't brittle like the authentic kit.
I want this kit, but I won't buy authentic just because I don't want to pay over $800 extra for a kit that will break.

all the race cars in japan run the authentic kits without breaking them. i guess if you plan on running your car into things then a shine replica is right for you. really though, suddenly you guys make the authentic kits sound like garbage. less than a year ago before rx8club heard about shineautoproject, everyone was raving about how authentic was the way to go and was the highest quality. shine's products are quite possibly better than many authentic kits out there, but it isnt fair to make the authentics sound like trash

Japan race cars with original kits run in smooth, clean, and even tracks, therefore less prone to breakage.

Our daily driver cars run into potholes, elevated driveways, bumps, humps, and flying objects. Isn't it more practical to have sturdier body kits that can withstand the everyday grind in our less-than-perfect city streets?

Perhaps less than a year ago, everybody was raving about original kits because there was no better alternative. Then Shine came into the picture offering kits that are equal to or better than the originals....... not to mention prices that are less than half.

If JDM distributors sell these original kits for $400 to $600, I would gladly fork out the money. Unfortunately, they cost an arm and a leg.

this still doesnt make authentic japanese parts poor quality by any means. lower quality than shine's in some cases but not poor.

japanese companies put some money into research and development. furthermore, body kits dont sell like intakes do so they have to charge more on them to break even. shine has been selling to the rx8 owners so far based on group buys, that means right around 15 guaranteed buys so they can be sure they will break even and then some. a lot less risk involved for shine.

Your points are reasonable which I can accept.

Since body kits are niche products and low sellers, they have to charge more to recoup their initial investment and realize a profit, which is entirely understandable.

One way to increase profit margin is to sell in volume and lower the price through occasional group buys. Faster inventory turnover translates into more profit as well.

However, I have not encountered a direct manufacturer sponsoring a group buy. Many of them rely on US distributors representing another layer of increased cost to the consumer.

I got pissed off when two US distributors quoted $250 just for shipping on top of the inflated original kit price.

Shine seems to be the only replica-maker who stands by his products and offers reasonable prices including shipping.
