Eyebrow/Eyelid pattern

I was just wondering if anyone could trace out their headlight eyebrow/eyelids and send me a full scale picture?....I bought some 3m Di-noc carbon fiber vinyl and I want to make a set of eyelids but I dont want to freehand it and waste my vinyl because that stuff was expensive!

ive done it myself by eye. came out good but the vinyl wont hold the light, you need to lay like 2 or 3 layers of it for it to completly block the light from shining through

Well ok then...I actually started with making a pattern out of paper and mocked it up on the headlight but I wasn't satisfied with the result. Oh well I've got 1'x4 of material, if I mess up I can always just redo it...

Just curious, what headlight eyelids were you looking for?

Just print out a headlight with the eyelid you like and then trace the pattern.

That would work if i could find a full size image of a headlight with an eyelid, but i doubt anyone had a full size image...

You can resize the picture. Just find a decent quality pic. Then take a sharpie and outline the eyelid and then cut it out for your pattern.

FWIW I have seen people do what you are wanting to do and the results and not very good. Good luck.

Instead of using 2-3 layers of vinyl, you could also just primer/paint the area before applying the vinyl. If you do it right, no one will be able to tell, except that the light wont roll through. You would have to use something glossy, though.

I like this idea. Even better after you design your own and then make the eyelid.

+1

Making your own is a MUCH better idea than copying someone elses design. Not that you cant use your favorites for inspiration...

There is the one i did back on my 2004 BB... im going to do the exact same, that was like 1 hour after i finished... you need more than one layer as you can see it is shining through slightly.

If you would I still wouldn't mind getting a trace of the kei office pair just as a base line...unfortunately the headlight won't fit on one sheet of paper so idk what I'm going to do...I am not the most technical person in the world but I will keep trying! Bc I def want a unique pair!

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure the KEIs will fit on a sheet of paper. You may have to do some little modification if it gets cuts off. I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

Ok thank you very much!! I really appreciate it! But I still think I'm going to try and take a picture of my headlight, resize it and just mock it up like that bc I'm all about originality. Well for the most part lol

when i did it, i noticed that with more curves it becomes harder and the chances of you getting it to match are slim. I did mine from corner to corner and it has nearly perfect match on both sides.

you might try a manila folder for your template as its a stiffer material and bigger than 8.5x11.

and +1 for wanting to see the results!

Okay, So I traced the KEI, but I didn't realize how long they were. I had to trace it onto 2 pieces of paper then scan them so you will need to tape two pieces together.

There is a lot of bends in the eye lids, but I tried my best getting the exact trace. On the authentic KEI there is a section that goes under the hood, but I left that out because you are using vinyl.

Let me know how it works! Remember, you may have to mold my trace a little to make it work! Good luck!

PS, this is the DRIVER side lid. I had the lid face down against the paper. So, you will need to cut it out then flip it over.
