ECU cover HELP!

Ok i am trying to take out the ECU box and i've followed the exact instructions from this picture by removing the three bolts...

https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?postid=216830

but the cover still wont come off?!

It seems like theres still something holding onto the cover on the side with the one bolt.

Need help !

Thanks!

You need to release two small clips holding the box cover on. I recommend a small probe with an angled tip. Slide it uder the clips, and gently move them away from the bottom half of the box. Gently is the key word, since they are plastic.

Look between the fender insulation and the box, and you'll see 'em.

It's hard to push the tab. The best way I found was to insert a small flat head screwdriver from the side/edge of the clip and prive the outer tab (connecting to the top piece) out from bottom/inside piece

If you have a small hand, then you may use your finger to grab the outer edge of the tab and pull outward; I tried but not successful without a tool.

Are you trying to instal/modify something?

I just pulled really hard until the damn clip broke. Try it, it works! And it's barely even noticeable. :D

Yes, it is. Even with the PCM cover removed it's still almost impossible to reach.

Re the side clips on the ECU cover, softening up with a little WD40 helps in prying up with an angled probe. Also, if you grab the cover and slide it towards the fender a bit it can help persuade them to let go. (Ulitmately, plastic tabs do break off as they do on the battery cover if you're not careful.)
