there is only a rewire DIY, I don't think there is an install DIY. The install probably requires that you drill into things, run wires, splice wires, maybe add something to the fuse box.

If you feel comfortable doing all that then I'm sure someone here will be able to give you pointers. Otherwise get someone to install it for you.

I'm actually working on this right now. I have a base 6sp, and so it obviously didnt come with foglights or HIDs, but i'm looking to put both in this winter. I'll post pictures and directions as i get more work done.

vcpatel, that'd be a great service to others. When you get yours done please post it in the DIY forum. Meanwhile I've moved this thread to where it belongs, in the Exterior forum.

I have a base model, and i bought some fog lights w/o the switch replacement. I used a $5 radio shack switch ad mounted it where the DSC is for the higher models. I did the rewire, so my fogs work independently of anything else. Also, I'm 17 with no expertees in electronics. So I bet if you tried, you could pull it off yourself. The switch is just a replacement. And the the fog light wires are already there. Just take off the bumper, put the fogs on, put the bumper back on and plug em in. Then just open the cover behind the steering wheel and swap the switch.

ya, the base model has the harness in it already for the fogs, you just need to attach the fogs, and swap the switch.

Yup. That's why the fog light indicator is constantly on on the dash (the little green one that never goes off)

And it's prlly worth it to go to a custom shop where it will be less expensive and likely done better/more carefully.

I do not get this.....

I put the fog lamps in and connected the wires, but I do not see how you can jus drop a switch in there and/or where to get said switch from and what to connect it to.

Mine is the JDM and it did not come with these fogs but i bought them from mazdatrix.com and since I did from there it came with the LHD switch.

I also have a base manual that I put oem fog lights on. I got the whole set with the new turn stalk and yes, it is a very easy job.

As previously stated, remove the bumper and you'll find the wiring harnesses already there and zip tied in place. In the cabin, simply remove a few screws to take apart the plastic pieces directly behind the steering wheel and the old turn stalk will come out of its harness. If you got an OE set of fogs, the instructions should be pretty clear.

No drilling, so wire stripping, just plug and play. No need to pay someone else to do it if you're comfortable with screwdrivers and removing big plastic bumpers.

Hope that helps

For sure! I guess it would be wise to get some replacement bulbs before i install.. that way I dont have to worry about those later on.. I'm going to try to hardwire it to either turn on with my parking lights or as a separate switch altogether.. haven't decided which i want though... time to do some research!

Yeh but what you jus pointed out is 'Plug & Play: Foglights'

that wasnt the request, mine are JDM (RHD) and the only kits i see are LHD like the one from mazdatrix with the replacement turn stalk, which is of no use.

I wanted to know if anyone knows how to fix it so there's like an on-off switch or bypass the whole turning on altogether and just have them turn on with the headlight on the base turn stalk

My bad. I assumed - perhaps incorrectly - the guy who bumped the thread a month after your post was interested in getting a complete answer to the original question about OE fogs.

If you're still looking for your answer, maybe start a new thread
