Nice thing is everything you are covering up will be protected from scratches.

It's all good. This is a lot better than painting everything as I can easily change it.

Here's an update of the pokeball with the ***** almost done. I laid a piece of decal on a 21mm socket and cut it out to get the circles that you see on the *****. I'll probably have to use a 10mm or 12mm socket for the other smaller *****.

That was one of the reasons I started it.

Emblems or interior work? Would be kinda hard to do the interior pieces unless you sent them to me.

love the dash cluster....I may have to figure a way of doing that. I like how you are getting some positive comments here...cause I think it was hit and miss when I posted the interior dash kit I added to my car quite a bit ago.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Thouhgt I was going to open up a can of worms when I first posted pics. I'm glad to see most ppl like what I have done. Maybe it's gotten some much positive feedback because noone else has done this. I'm curious to see if other will do the same. I'd like to see what others come up with for a design.

Im interested in doing the dash cluster portion. What is involved in getting the cluster off of the dash....have you thought of doing a DIY for that?

Here's my original thread...it may give you some ideas on additional pieces to do.

I'll be honest I love this simple lil mod. I'm very surpirsed Mazda hasnt done something like this and charge us a extra $100 for something like this lol.

How do you cut the piece's out for the emblem? Do you place them on the emblems themselves and cut them out or have you measured them and use a stencil?

Again I like this very much.. anyone have a idea how much a "replacement" Rx-8 emblem would cost from the dealer? I believe or heard rather the Rx-8 is a stickerish emblem so once I take it off I wouldnt be able to put it back on right?! Please correct me if I'm wrong. I might have to send you a PM about how much this would cost after that question is answered hehe.

I did not remove the dash cluster at all. The only things I removed was the "Mazda" emblem, door handles, air vents from top of dash and ashtray. The round vents in the dash came with the silver bezel. I don't like to remove things if I don't have to. Here is what I have done so far. Gotta have a steady hand.....will add more pics over the weekend.

For the emblems I just laid a piece of vinyl on top then used a razor blade and slowly cut them out. Be very careful not to scratch your ride doing the RX-8 emblem....it does not come off like the "Mazda" emblem. For the door handles I just removed them and did the whole thing in silver. I then decide to cut half off by laying a flexible ruler on top as a guide. Go slow and don't press to hard cause you will scratch the molding if you are not careful. Then I added the red accent. For the radio...I laid a piece over the center of the radio then slowly cut it out. Once I got it where I wanted it I used the original one as the template and fine tuned it before cutting out the one you see in the pics. To make the circles on the radio ***** I laid a piece of vinyl on top of a 21mm socket and used a razor blade to cut around the socket. Fine tune the piece you just cut and use the razor blade to slowly lift the vinyl circle off the socket. Put the vinyl circle on the edge of the razor and slowly place it on the **** .....using the eyeballing it technique.
Again everything was done using a razor blade....no scissors.

It takes a lot of patience to do what I have done but by no means is it impossible. PPL often ask me how and the hell I come up with ideas to do stuff like this and I always tell them I get bored easily. When I used to do upholstery I changed the seats in my 99 civic 4 times in one year cause I got tired of looking at the same old thing. Still have my machine but not interested in doing seats....maybe I ought to start again.

the emblems have two sided tape, as well as two posts that are similar to other car emblems....they leave holes if you remove them.

So you think I'd be better of just attempting to buy a brand new set of emblems? I'm highly interested in this might be a birthday gift for myself Nov 4th is coming up hehe.

Ok guys/gals......here is the rear emblem. Just finished but have to fine tune it a bit. Took me at least an hour to come up with this and cut it out. The bottom edge was a "B!+(#". Had to redo 3 times to get it right.

Grrr I'm loving this mod more and more I see it I want it done now!
Its just so simple again I'm surprised Mazda hasnt thought of it and offered it as a option for a extra $100-200 lol.

Quick question since I'm noticing your carrying a red/silver theme throughout your car. If you get strakes are they going to be red also? And.. are you going to carry the red on silver to the Rims? Sorry curious hehe..

Edit: And yes I'm a scorpio!! Why when I seen the 8 I had to get it.. let that side of my sign take over "when scorpios want something they do everything in their power to get it". Think I could get a discount fellow scorpion when I get this done haha.

I don't plan on adding any addt'l red to the outside but who knows. "When scorpios want something they do everything in their power to get it". My now wife did not want to speak to me the first time I approached her. I went looking for her the next day and the rest is history. She says I'm the best thing that ever happened to her......until I **** her off. Send a PM when you are ready and we'll talk price. I want everyone to keep in mind that everything I do is done by hand. There are imperfections but very very few.

More pics...just finished the front. Pulled the ride outside to get better pics. Let me know what you think.
