Custom Rear Emblems
Just wanted to get you guys/gals take on my custom rear emblems. No painting here just a sheet of vinyl and a sharp razor blade. Gotta have a steady hand though. I'll vinyl just about anything.....more to come.

Its really close. I had to pick between 3 shades. I used to do this on the inside of cars as well as upholstery when I had a small business selling import parts. It takes time to cover a lot of the dash pieces but noone could say they had the same thing cause I did every car a little different.

really awesome, love it. an alternative to painting the emblems. i hope you dont take this the wrong way (i love the emblems) but it gives the car an old school look. looks nice!

No offense taken on the old school comment. I really like using vinyl over paint cause I can change colors whenever I want to. I have thought about doing these for other members if they were interested. I'm going to do some inside trim this weekend and post it for feedback also.

I wish I would of thought about doing this before sticking the emblems back on my trunk last weekend after the paint job. That looks clean.

That would not be a problem. I can get several different styles of black vinyl to enclude really glossy......looks like wet paint. I can get just about any shade of vinyl that would match our 8's. If you come across a set of emblems send them to me and I will hook you up for a very very good price......you can be the first one. I'm not trying to get rich if I offer this service to members cause anyone can do them if they take their time. I would just be helping those who don't feel like doing it or don't have time to.
The only thing about offering them to other members is I would have to buy a boat load of emblems. I could do that but would it be worth it. On the other hand you can send me yours and get it done really cheap. One thing you guys have to remember is I cut them out by hand to get the chrome edge of the emblem to show. They may not be 100% perfect but I would not return anything to you that I would not put on my own car.

I will try out other colors for all to see once I have completed my car. Here is the first pic of my center console......beginning stages. The red (same on trunk emblems) below the shift **** will have a rotory symbol, "RX8" or both placed on it in small lettering. I will probably have to have those made at my friends decal shop. Keep in mind everything else I cut by hand.
It took me about 30 minutes to get the red piece cut out just right. I know some may not like it but that comes with the territory when you customize stuff.

Wait to see the finished product and then tell me what you think. We can always discuss that later. Good think about using vinyl is if you dont like something I can change it pretty easy....unlike painting.

Here are a few pics of the door switches I did about 1/2 hour ago. Kinda debating if I will keep them like this or just do them in all silver. Wanted them to match the radio bezel. Don't mind the few air bubbles on the drivers door switch. Placing the car outside in the sun will take car of them...this is common when you use vinyl on plastic interior trim. I managed to get just about all of them out of the passenger side door switch. If they do not come out completely I can redo it in about 10 minutes....the joy of working with vinyl. The ashtray cover will be covered with a very glossy black to match the radio bezel. Then I will put the same silver accent stripes on the outer edges just like above.

This has turned into an interior thread. May need to move it. Well guys I just completed my guage pod. The bezel for the outside guages were lined with red and the center with silver. I also added silver accents to the base of each needle. I will be adding one other thing to the temp guage during the week. Took me about 3 hrs.
The second from the last pic will give you an idea of how it will look at night.....I like the reflections
