Confused: replacing front air dam

I've searched and read about this, but I'm still not clear: to remove and replace the stock front air dam (with another stock front air dam), do I need to remove the front bumper, or not?

Thanks.

Yeah I believe you do. You have to detach the entire bumper and then you can screw/unscrew the air dam from the interior face.

the screws holding the front air dam on are on the inside of the front bumper. You will have to remove the whole thing.

no, you don't. geez, why do people keep posting that you have to take the whole damn bumper off.

you f'n don't have to. just lift the car, on both sides, and you can see all the little screws and parts. you have to take the wheel wells out, so, removing both front tires is a good idea too. but you DO NOT have to take the bumper off. I have first hand knowledge of this. I wish I knew where my pictures of it were, I would post them.

really, I don't think so. I have taken the front bumper off three times, and did not think it was all that easy, and, removing the bumper brings in opportunities to damage the bumper, or the headlights. you have to pop the hood, and take off a few connections there, the corner markers have to come off, you have to undo the wheel wells and none of that takes less time or is easier. and if you think you can just remove the bumper and replace the air dam, you are wrong, the air dam is connected to the undertray. so, you have to be down on the ground to disconnect the air dam from the undertray, so, while you are down there, just unscrew the 10-12 connections that hold the air dam on. it really is pretty easy, and no chance to get the bumper on crooked, mis-aligned...any of that.

OK! The best way to install the front OEM Appearance Package Air Dam is to take off the bumper. Taking off the bumper is recommended. The reason being is that it will be a lot easier to drill the four holes on the bumper. If you look behind the bumer, there are four crossairs on it. It will be hell of a lot harder to drill in with the bumper on. After that, everything is self explanatory. I hope this helps.

it can be done either way.....you dont have to remove the bumper but its helpful and then you dont have to remove the tires.....depends on which angle you want to approach it from....for me i have removed my bumpers, friends bumpers, and done it over 20 times so its a matter of 20 minutes for me to take off......if that....but if you just want to jack the car up, **** the wheels and work from under its just the same.....your choice.....either way its an easy to moderate thing to do

^ Yeah, removing the bumper for me takes about 5-10 mins. It's only four screws and buncha plastic screw clips. It's just so much easier to drill the holes that way
