Clear Corners, Get or no?

Hey everyone,
Coming home from school today, i've seen a handful of rx8's (kinda rare to see a handful) but every rx8 i've seen has clear corners. I was wondering in everyone's wisdom and judgment if i should get clear corners too? I got the winning blue 04 rx8 type s (i just like saying type s, feels like i have a jdm car) with the GT package (like it really matters what package i have). Anyways, yeah, every rx8 i saw had clear corners and it seems to me like i don't want it because everyone has it kind of thing but they do look nice. I just don't like the way they kinda stick out unlike the usdm corners that flow with the bodyline.
And if there are anything else i can do with the corners, please let me know because i would like to see what creativity you all have done to them. I've seen one or two corners smoked out and one of the corners were painted the same color as the body. But yeah, i jsut would like to know all you're opinions for me. Thanks a lot everyone!

- Jon

Clear corners should be the first mod of any 8 owner.

Oh and they really don't clash with the body lines as much as you might think.

IMO i completely agree with tiggerlee that clear corners should be the first mod on the rx8. Considering that was the first mod i did for my rx8, and they don't effect the body lines what so ever.

What do you two recommend, clear corners with stealth or non stealth bulbs?

Get the stealth bulbs. Prevents the "egg yolk" look to the clears corners.

Oh also, im wondering if you can do me a favor because i've seen pictures but not very very good ones of the clear corners on the rx8, like from the side and front angle and also, with the lights turned on. I've always wondered, i see most of the clear corners on rx8's during the day so dont really get a good night view. Also, if you can help me with this (i really do admit im too lazy to search for it) and that would be the parking light on the headlight, i was wondering if i wanted to change it to a clear or slight blue light, which bulb to use with it because i really dont feel like the tannish color really blends with the car when i see it in the front, sorry for the lazyness!

Here's the DIY for the clear corner install. Some good photos in there.
As far as bulbs "search" the Electronics section for what other members have done.

Clear corners is the first thing you should do if you want to look like every other modder out there; if you want to stand out, keep the orange corners. They actually look good on the winning blue.

Just get the real stealth bulbs. I got some of the knock offs from whatever that place was that used to be really popular because they had tons of cheap bulbs. They overheated and melted to the plastic. Luckily they didn't do too much damage and I could stick some old white ones in that I had floating around. I might get busted for the white one day, but I haven't gotten any flack for it yet.

I agree with Ole Spiff, the orange corners look good with the blue and also the red Rx-8s.

there's a reason that some many 8 owners get the clear corners. the amber ones look like ***. it's totally worth the $50. it was one of the first mods i did for my winning blue.

Yeah, you happened to get one of the colors that look real nice with the yellow corners. My Titanium looks 10x better IMO opinion with the clears than the yellow.

Gotta get those clear corners, they look pretty sweet.

I decided not to go with the stealth bulbs and just got hyper whites. I think they look pretty good.

I'll take pics @ night if I get a chance.

clear corners do stick out a bit but if you look closely it actually follows the fender line of the car.

Clear corners look great on every car color of the 8. At least, better than the orange. the shape of it, some people don't like because it doesn't lay flat along the fender lines like stock. I think it does follow the fender line with just a small change. I didn't opt for the stealth bulbs, just used the stock white bulbs that are in it. Haven't been a problem with the cops. *knock on wood*

True you would look like every other rx8 modder out there... But stand out? maybe only among rx8club members. This forum is only a fraction of the people with 8s... so I guess you would look like every stock 8 out there.

You can get it at www.mazdaparts.com (but they are currently on back order), rotaryextremem.com and other places that you can get parts for your rx8, search it on google. And i agree with the some that say the blue looks good with the amber, i think what i'm going to do is buy the clearcorners and then every month, switch it back and fourth. HAHA, best of both worlds.

That's a pretty good idea...options, options. I just want to get the clear corners because I think the blue looks great with them.
