Clear Corner Lights
Well, I finally got around to installing my clear corner lights. If I had known how easy it was, I would have done it 3 weeks ago when they first arrived. :D Took me all of 10 minutes for both sides. Makes a dramatic improvement (to me, anyway) with the pearl white paint. Nice change for the better.
Note to anyone that is planning on installing these: the factory bulbs are clear, and only shine yellw due to the color of the lense. If you put the clear lenses in, you'll need some yellow bulbs in order to stay legal. I bought "stealth" bulbs, which are silver when not lit, but shine yellow when lit. Can't see them at all behind the lense with the lights off.
Also installed my footwell lights today. I "borrowed" the trim light wiring from the cigarette lighter, as I never use it anyway. So, the footwell lights come on when the lights are on, and stay on. I may put a switch in later, but for now, this works fine. It's a very muted and soft light showing down there, so it looks cool, but isn't at all distracting.
And....I did my first oil change today too. Very easy, once I got that &^@&$% factory oil filter off. I swear they must have installed it with a friggin' impact wrench. If you're getting ready to do your first oil change, don't even think about getting a cap-type oil filter wrench. There's no thinking about it whatsoever -- you HAVE to have it. After getting the filter off, the rest was pie. At 1400 miles, my oil was pretty dirty, but no signs of anything wrong (moisture, metal shavings, etc).
Best,
Bill

Does anyone here have the Mazda part numbers on the clear corners? I have a friend in Homeland Security working in Japan and I want to see what he can get them for.
