Chrome

I was looking at the black vents behind the front wheels on a red RX8 today (they had it in the local showroom) and I got a flashback of a 60's corvette with the chrome accents. I know that there is a chrome gas cap, is there a chrome vent option? I know, I know, it's way too flashy but I am curious.

I took a closer look at the Xmen car, the mesh is black with two chrome stubs across it. I was thinking of something more along the lines of the whole mesh being chrome. But I think that there is too much surface, it would probably look too garish. The Xmen accents would probably be a nice touch. The picture at the mazdaus site only shows the wheel well and not the overall view.

The black RX-8 at NAIAS had those accents behind the front wheel wells, but they were brushed aluminum and not chrome. Are you sure they're chrome on the X-men car?

IMHO, chrome just looks out of place on most modern cars.

I went to http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/rx8/...xmen_flash.jsp Click on the Vehicle Showroom, the last picture is a close up of the vents. It looks like a chrome accent (but it could be brushed aluminum) over black mesh. I have to admit that I really like the looks of the convertible 'vettes of that era with the chrome. The chrome on today's cars just look cheap.

I would have to see the Winning blue RX8 with the brush aluminum gas cap in person, but I think it will detract too much.

My guess they are aluminum.

I plan on adding it to my Winning Blue -- don't think that little gas cap will do anything to take away from the color of the car.
