Why do so many people on this forum waste their time by scaring other posters ideas? Everybody starts acting like kids when little fists are thrown, and inevitably we have more threads than actual idea's going into production...
It always starts out like this:
"Hey, I being a complete noob poster have a pretty crazy, outlandish idea in regards too either A. Making my 8 faster or B. Making my 8 look better... Now I need other people's opinion on if it's A. Possible or B. If others are interested enough to cause a reaction for a company to simply create the product I have in mind"
Then it ends up somewhere around here:
"Hey! You! I need attention! Hence why I'm wasting my time to follow up on a topic that I know I won't like, thanks to my ingrown hatred of other people's style! What?! Your idea is impossible! I have no knowledge of the situation like a high class white kid knows the ghetto, but just like that same f-ing kid I'll give my stupid *** opinion when not asked too!"
So how about unlike all the other threads where this dies because 2 people are having emotional issues, we keep the thread going! AND ONLY THOSE THAT ARE INTERESTED POST
Because I don't plan on even looking into Carbon Fiber until I can get my roof that CF

Now, I believe the thread starter indicated that he was going to go forward on this project regardless of interest....so maybe send him some pm's to let him know you are on board and will assist any way you can.
You are definately right that there are a lot of ideas on this board that get shot down.

our roofs are different, mine has a sun roof... I wouldn't give that up for the weight it is...
he plans on doing it though, just not posting about it...
also, the main reason I would like to have a carbon fiber roof is for the looks... I would only do it at the same time that I got a CF hood & trunk lid... If the windows are allready 5% then you might as well make everything around is black looking, but too me CF makes it look lighter/sportier... Mix that with an Accolade SPEC C

What about taking off the moon roof window, and putting some cf there? That'd be a good weight reduction, no? I know I would have that done, or if a company made one i'd buy it.
The whole roof would be cool to see though, just throwing an idea I've always had.

particularly the ones that are too dumb or impractical, much to the chagrin of leghumpin' dreamers who don't know the difference between what sounds cool and what makes sense ....
if you have money to spend then go for it, nobody's stopping you

weight reduction on the roof is probably the best place u can cut weight from a car, take the EVO8 vs EVO8 MR the latter has an lightened aluminum roof, if you drive these back to back, the difference is night and day. Cutting weight from the top of your car lowers your center of gravity, on handling its like lowering your car 2inches without sacrifcing the clearance problems or the suspension travel.

GUYS, EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE, YOU JUST HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO DO IT , THERE IS A BODY SHOP IN MIAMI THAT ONLY WORKS ON FERRARIS AND LAMBOS AND THOSE CARS, DIAMANTE BODY SHOP , THEY AGREED TO "PAINT" MY 350Z'S ROOF AND HOOD CARBON FIBER, THIS IS ONLY PAINT, BUT LOOKS VERY GOOD, THEY CHARGED 450 FOR PIECE, I WILL GET A REAL CARBON FIBER HOOD FOR MY 8 AND PAINT THE ROOF , IN THE PIC I COULD ONLY GET THE HOOD BUT ILL TRY TO GET ONE FROM THE ROOF LATER THIS WEEK

is our stock roof aluminium or steel? it doesn't look like it's part of the structural support seeing how there are structural bracings underneath. i really doubt it's steel though... why would mazda go through the trouble of making all other body panels out of aluminium and make the roof out of steel?
does anyone have plexi glass for the windows? that's something i'd eventually be interested in, if it'll be daily driveable in all weather conditions.

if you wanna make one like xdeed, ngo or jedi, then you probably need to pm them for help.

stealth, what sort of torque does the steel roof see? in the event of roll over, it wouldn't matter what material it's in, and as for lateral forces, wouldn't two beams on the bottom take care of it?
