WV carbon fiber mazda speed (replica)

I know the tittle will get peoples attention, i know there is not a original kit from mazda speed made from CF but i have some questions
1. has anybody installed a replica kit themselves, and if so how hard was it to make the middle support on the top(basically looking for pix)
2.did i jump the gun on buying a carbon fiber kit anyways lol, from what i hear carbon fiber is more brittle than fiberglass, but damn it looks good i couldn't resist
3, when drillin carbon fiber (on the tabs and brackets) d i need a special bit of some sort to stop it from braking apart rather than drilling thru

yes,

who is making that stuff..

as to drilling.. use a sharp bit. and drill slow.. but it really drills like anything else..

let us know about fitment. if you need bracket for the rear bumper. and you will let me know..

I saw this kit on eBay.
Almost bought it. Altogether around $700, right?

But I check seller's feed back and people said the fitments are crap.
So I did not buy it.

Good luck with the installation.
Show us some pix after you are done.

well to sum up all the answers, I...like everybody else has or will have trouble with a replica kit! i found a company called key composite group out of MD (yes ebay) and with the price of 700 i decided to get it and try the fitment out. all of my measurements came up good but i will not know for sure until spring when it gets warmer but i will definatley let u guys know, because with this kit i can deal with the shaving , but if i have gaps it will be a problem. ALL TOGETHER THO THE QUALITY OF THE CF AND MOLDING IS NEAR IMMACULATE!!!!!,......even if the bumpers dont fit il have a nice set of skirts lol

That's probably the extreme dimensions kit, I'm pretty sure they're the only ones who make a cf replica and from all of mine and several friends/colleagues of mine experience, I have to say I pity your poor car. I might also mention that is probably not real cf, just fiberglass with a cf overlay even if it isn't their kit, seeing as all a real cf body kit would cost a LOT more than 700 bucks, just the carbon lip by itself from Autoexe is over 700 bucks. (it's at the bottom of this page http://www.japanparts.com/db/partsli...dle=2&small=11 )

no not extreeme dimensions , its a house made kit from key composite group out of MD and as far as if its a full CF kit I don't know because it looks like a mixture of epoxy /fiberrglass/CF on the back side of the kit.....and honestly ....if it is idc because if fitment is right I got what I wanted...looks...not fuctionability...I kno I'll tear this one uup and next year I'll get a new one lol that's what the 8 was made for.....play....hell I deliver pizzas part time in it lol ( not by choice...fu** the economy)

right, you bought it for looks, and all knockoffs have fitment issues which means it will look like ***, best of luck though, hopefully I'm wrong and it all turns out for you. I don't think one single person on here bought their kit for functionality anyway, I know I didn't

^Man always so negative canary. I saw this kit a few months back but was hesitant to buy it. These really did take their time on this as they cast their mold from a MS kit and went from there. I have seen their CF doors and they fit damn near perfect. I'd like to buy their door kit (F/R) but for $2k I can think of other things to buy.

Nothing some 320 grit stand paper and a afternoon or two going to town inside to knock off the 2-3 layers of 10 oz glass. Unless they used fiber mat than you'll be at it longer.

Does this company make more of these, or was this the only kit available? Link?

Not bad looking pieces for $700. Let us know how it goes. It might not be a bad purchase afterall....

i just cant believe its that cheap i mean even with only one layer of carbon and fiberglass backing i dont see how they are making any kind of money unless they are buying for somewhere like ED and reseling. it looks good. hope it works for you. and you may have resin spider cracking because im sure they used cheap polyester resin.

Well you also have to understand epoxy will spider just as easy. Odds are they used vinylester.

Parts look great though. Id love to see a picture of the backing. To see if they used 10oz cloth or matting.
