Brake Caliper Paint

I'm gonna paint my stock calipers. Yeah, yeah, they're stock and all, but they look 10x better if they're painted than if they're rusty and crappy looking. I was thinking of going the big brake kit route. But since the stock brakes are quite good and big enough already (12.7" vs. 13" Baer kit I used to have on my Eclipse GS-T), I'm gonna use that money towards something else.

My car is a titanium gray GT, with the black and red leather interior. I'm thinking of painting the calipers red. But then my younger sister said that red is played out and she suggested yellow instead. I kind of agree with what she said and think that yellow isn't that bad at all. But then yellow doesn't really go with the black and red interior. Should I go ahead and paint the calipers yellow anyway, just to be different?

Or maybe silver? How about black? What do you guys think? I know it's my car and I can do whatever I want with it, but I'd certainly appreciate some feedback.

I'm gonna use G2 paint, by the way.

Thanks.

I've got a Sunlight Silver and plan to powder coat the calipers silver. It stands out but is not flashy like red/yellow.

Any color you do will be better looking than stock.

It all depends on the color of your car. For a Ti, I recommend black.

I agree that red isn't very unique, but I think that's because it is one of the best colors for the calipers.

Silver would look good. Black would look OK I think, but almost not worth the effort. Yellow can look good on some cars, but is definitely the wrong color for your car.

My Opinion: Paint 'em red. Second choice would be silver.

Good Luck!

I voted for red but whatever color you choose don't forget to add Polak's RX-8 decal.

I painted my gold. The dark rusty spots were getting to me. I also added PoLak's red RX-8 graphics to each calipers. And I didn't paint the bracket, either.

Did you paint your shields? They look a lot better than mine. Looks nice.

I painted my calipers lightning yellow to match the car....looks awesome. I also had the rust issue on my hubs so I had them painted black. The hubs look MUCH better. No more ugly rust to look at.

Black with white polak graphics looks really classy on my Shinka. It doesn't jump out and say "RICE", but if someone is into cars they notice the extra detail. Of course it helps to have aftermarket wheels with a very open pattern to them.

Wow...Red and black are neck and neck in this poll. I think I'm leaning towards red. Though I may change my mind at the last minute and go with any of the colors in this poll.

I was actually thinking of what magikone69 did...Not bad looking at all!

ive recieved some compliments so far, its a nice lil effect, kinda gives the illusion the brake setup is larger..only thing i can say with red tho is if u want it lookin nice u might want to wipe them with a rag every week or so to keep the red looking bright cause when the dust hits it it looks very dingy/dusty looking. im sort of **** when it comes to lil details like that

nice thing about red is that all our cars have it (tail lights), so it's never out of place and matches.

I've seen black calipers and they just don't stand out. They become lost.

Yellow does not match. Worst choice of them all.

If you want them to stand out a little..... red.... if you're just tired of the rusty looking brakes.....black. I too like the two color approach previously posted, but if the red needs to be wiped down to keep from looking like butt, I vote all black.
