Bell license plate relocator bracket - easiest, cheapest, ever

at autzone for 8.99

it is ridiculously nice. very solid construction. very simple. and its cheap as hell. you just cant get any better than this. props go to zumn for discovering it. and it comes with 2 ways to attach, bolts+nuts and 2 self tapping screws. the screws fit pretty damn well.

SiLVeRE8 04-25-2009 06:04 PM

did you drill holes?

ZumnRx8 04-25-2009 06:16 PM

Thanks for the "shout out", i told ya didnt I! :yesnod: $8.99, It looks SUPER CLEAN! Great that its BELL not knock off crap, and even better its Super Multi- Adjustable using only an Allen, and if you are going to attend a car show or something u dont have to take off the whole bracket, just undo the Allens and leave the mounted part on. Becareful on steep driveways/Entrances to parking lots up or down, License Plates bend super easily.
Now u just need a custom Vanity Plate LIKE ZUMNRX8! lols. (im serious) You should get ZUMNVR8

Ouch! I just drilled 3 holes in my MS front!! You posted this a week too late!!!!

ZumnRx8 04-25-2009 07:00 PM

^Well if its a FiberGlass Front then u have to because self tap wont go through FG, i had to:yesnod:, I used a 1/8 drill bit then i drilled in the screws.

SiLVeRE8 04-25-2009 07:00 PM

I guess Im heading to autozone now! wooohoooo thanks! now this can prevent me from getting fix it tickets for no front plate! Thanks for sharing!

kersh4w 04-25-2009 11:19 PM

for those of us with stock equipment, you can use the normal screw holes to attach the underbody. just take 2 out and replace it with the screws the kit comes with. also, i took some double sided foam tape and put it on the spot that the license plate touches my bumper. i just didnt remove the plastic strip on the bumper side. gives it some padding so it doesnt dent the bumper.

this kit works really nicely. and its so damn cheap.

Mugatu 04-26-2009 11:41 AM

Kudos to you but honestly I'm not a fan.

Not my style - but i don't hate the concept - looks very clean. Props as some people will probably love this mod.

Aipex8 04-26-2009 02:20 PM

Looks much too low. With S-Techs and the OEM air dam I already have to be careful with driveways.

HWK11 04-26-2009 03:19 PM

only if it was little higher i would get it

KraZy K 02 04-26-2009 03:28 PM

I like it, but I will have to agree with others that it looks a little low.

HWK11 04-26-2009 03:58 PM

have you guys ever scraped the bottom of the license plate?

kersh4w 04-27-2009 12:41 AM

i have not. but i've only had it a few days. honestly, its only an inch shorter than the lip. its still a lot higher than most people's front lips that are lowered or have body kits.

HWK11 04-27-2009 12:53 AM

ohh thats good, are you running on any spring?

SiLVeRE8 04-28-2009 07:09 PM

Just got this installed and it was easy as hell. I am impress by how it holds up and how drilling is not required. One thing to add is that even though its 1 inch lower than the front bumper, its really not that bad. Here are some crappy cell phone pics:

fyi, san diego county is 15.99 :(

SiLVeRE8 04-28-2009 07:30 PM

well I wouldve still bought it if it was that price... better than sticking with the center original plate holder

RIWWP 04-28-2009 07:36 PM

I'm getting this as soon as I can find it. I'm running on borrowed time till a plate ticket, but haven't been willing to put my buck tooth out there. Excellent solution for in-state. (Still removing it for any out of state trip :) )

Razz1 04-28-2009 08:41 PM

I would try to move it to the center.

You can always go to True Value Hardware and buy angle brackets.

HWK11 04-28-2009 10:34 PM

how come no one is putting it on the passenger side? lol

rx8thunder 04-28-2009 10:37 PM

^ or in the center? Don't like the off-center look as I think it makes the plate stick out like a "sore thumb"

HWK11 04-28-2009 10:58 PM

well i think they put it on the side because if it was in the center it would block out alot of air going into the car

kersh4w 04-28-2009 11:06 PM

it goes on the drivers side so police going the opposite direction can see you have a front plate.

it does not go in the middle because that lower air hole is where 80% of the air for the radiator comes from. not the faux grill that the license plate hangs in front of.

SiLVeRE8 04-28-2009 11:17 PM

the whole point is to not have the plate in the middle... and for $10, nothing can beat it

HockeyRX-8 04-29-2009 12:47 PM

put mine on about 5 minutes ago...definitely the way to go if your state requires a front plate...no more tickets for me! :fruit:

HWK11 04-29-2009 12:51 PM

i shall go buy one this saturday!

SiLVeRE8 04-29-2009 03:31 PM

if you want it off for pics, this is super easy to remove... 2 screws on the bottom and thats it (unlike the oem center plate holder where you would have to remove the plate then the bracket)

HWK11 05-02-2009 01:37 PM

i just put mine on, on the stock bumper but does any one know if the license plate would hit the body of the car by the wind?

Tamas 05-02-2009 04:13 PM

^^ you could always add some self-adhesive rubber bumpers to the back of the plate to prevent that.

kersh4w 05-02-2009 09:22 PM

i just used double side foam tape where the license plate touches the bumper. not necessary for me, because i have the clearbra on my car. but i didnt want to take any chances.

just put a 2" strip of whatever adhesive thing you can find. no sweat.

SiLVeRE8 05-03-2009 01:26 AM

I used those single sided sticky foam from the dollar store and taped it on the back of my license plate. If you dont do it, it might rattle against your bumper

HWK11 05-03-2009 01:36 AM

ill try to find one. thanks!

SiLVeRE8 05-03-2009 05:45 AM

heres a pic of the one sided foam tape

well i wrote up a DIY for this a long time back, this one doesnt sit an inch lower than the front lip and cost me in total 4 dollars....so have a look

it has to be either center or the driver side because a cop has to be able to see that you have a plate when he is in oncoming traffic.

kellyrx8 05-05-2009 10:33 AM

looks well built...im just glad Kansas dosent require a front plate :)

SiLVeRE8 05-05-2009 10:39 PM

Yesterday I found the screws which came with this kit started rusting, but the bracket was fine... Have any of you experienced this?

Anyways I dropped by Home Depot today and bought some stainless screws and replaced them.

I would recommend whoever is buying this kit to replace the screws to stainless to prevent rusting.

Twiztog43 05-05-2009 10:52 PM

just got mine done, pretty simple install
i just hate who ever previously owned my car because now there are two dents in the middle of the bumper because it looks like the license plate bracket was screwed on too tight

YeahYeahYouWere 05-06-2009 08:39 AM

Twiz, nice idea to put it on the TOP of the lip, to keep it from scraping. Of course, then you have to center it more, it's not that terrible.

Personally, I don't have a front plate and I hope I never have to. As good a job as people have done at mounting them, the car just never looks as good with one as it looks without. So far, it hasn't caused problems, and I hope it stays that way.

But, if I ever do get in trouble for it, at least I know there's a viable solution.

ZumnRx8 05-06-2009 02:59 PM

^+1 On your whole statement and +1 on the previous comment about using stainless steel screws.:yesnod:

HWK11 05-09-2009 02:01 AM

i scraped the license plate few days ago.. but the bell relocater is perfectly fine except that the license plate kind of leaned into the body more.

SiLVeRE8 05-09-2009 03:58 AM

^ same here... lol! I just take the plate out and bend it back to normal shape with pliers. But I think I will make a custom bracket to adapt with the bell plate holder bracket, so the plate will sit higher and maybe even flush with the bumper height.

HWK11 05-09-2009 10:16 AM

you should post a diy when you make one! id would love my license plate to be little higher.

kersh4w 05-09-2009 01:28 PM

twiz, you should put some foam tape behind the top of the license plate so it doesnt scratch the paint on your bumper.
