Ask: How to replace HID bulbs?
I have a little bit experience with installation of HID kit when I owned my Mazda6.
But it seems to me that on RX8 it's harder to reach the headlight assembly due to the compact design.
I searched the forum and haven't found a write-up of how to replace the HID bulbs. Does anyone know if there is one 'how-to' thread here, or somewhere else? A link will be appreciated.
I assume the front bumper and assembly need to removed to replace the bulbs, is that true?

i want to change the bulbs on my RX-8, how can you tell if your ride is already (hid)? Also how do you get to the fog light assembly to change those bulbs as well?

Thanks, I just read a DIY thread about replacing stock HIDs somewhere (maybe DIY section) yesterday. It turns out a pretty simple to do. But I think removing the two front wheels could make things much easier. (But not really necessary though). I will post the link here if I can find it again.
To tell if you already have HID installed? Stand in front of the car, let a friend turn on the low-beam headlights. If they are HIDs, you will see the bulbs take about .5-1 second to get lights out but it's kind of dim at the first beginning. Right after that, it will take about another 2-3 seconds to reach it's max light output. All of these are because HIDs bulbs are totally different to traditional halogen bulbs --- there are no filament inside. If you don't see that kind of lighting change, you don't have HIDs.
HIDs have much more lighting output and if I 'm right, the stock HIDs are 3800k or 4000k, which give you a nearly 'pure white' color if you look at them from a certain distance (like 20 feet or more).
