I hope this is the right spot for this question. I am a new RX8 owner and i found a 2010 RX8 with 2300 Mi on it. My Grandpa has been working with RX7s all his life and still races them today. He can do everything on the car from head to toe accept the RX8 body styles and kits. (We just don't know)

So my question is what kits should i be looking at and why are some kits better than others?

My Grandpa has a full shop and will be doing a lot of work to the car performance wise but we want to know what kits we should be looking at before we start tearing the car down.

I think the new MZ is about 2k unpainted and not including shipping. Also your headlights are different, and fenders. Re-Amemiya makes a R3 style front end for S1 RX8's but they arent cheap either.

@ BB8

Thanks for the posts...

That Weber Sports kit looks interesting...

a bit too aggressive for my taste tho...the front nose seems to stick out a little far imo...the rear also looks like that knock off Kenstyle rear (in a way). The front n' rear seem to have a lot goin' on which kinda makes the side skirts look kinda bland

The oil cooler fins look good tho. The kit overall looks better than the abflug n' cwest imo...

I removed the Weber Sports kit because it is not in production yet and still a concept. As far as it looking better than Abflug and Cwest, I agree. I can't get used to Cwest and I have only seen the Abflug rear bumper look good with other parts. I am not sure why more people don’t buy just the rear and blend it with other stuff? I think it’s because most people feel they have to buy the quad exhaust, which is not true. I think it would look best with INGS+1 sides but I can’t find any pics of anyone that has done it. Here are some pics with other exhaust and factory aero flares, MS sides, and a blue one rockin' it with no sides. Looks pretty good don’t you think?

Is anyone or know of a bumber/body kit guru? I have a few questions concerning my 8 and body kits. I don't want to flamed for my lack of knowledge; I've read a lot but still have a couple questions before I drop a lot of cash.

well for one thing, your thinking about it in the right way. If your willing to spend a lot of cash your most likely looking at quality kits, although your statement is somewhat relative. Most people recently have been coming on here looking to buy the cheapest **** out there and then complain later that fitment or QC is poor.

What are you looking to get?

I really want the OEM MS body kit. But the guy I bought the car from put another body kit on the car and I don't have any of the OEM bumpers (the rear one specifically). I don't actually mind the one I have too much, I'll put a picture in, but the side skirts are only bolted on with two bolts in each wheel well and the kit if fiberglass. Like I said, I want the MS kit, but buying it unpainted, and having to buy an OEM rear bumper, getting all that painted and installed, even at a local body shop is going to run me dry. I've see and heard some good things about some of the other kits, like the veilside kit. In short I want to keep the car for as long as I can thus I need something that will last. And all this polyurethane vs fibewrglass **** confuses me. I think most people agree with the poly kits. I just don't know if it's worth the money to get the OEM parts or a quality aftermarket kit.

To the best of my knowledge it is. Even still I still need to keep it taken off and repainted. The shop that put it on skimped out on doing all the work to make it look really good. If I don't get a new kit I'm getting the whole car stripped, sanded and repainted the same color. Too many tiny scratches and such. Plus, I'm moving to CA in the next couple years, needs to look good.

where was the person from that you bought this car from?

Like bse said this kit is very nice, and well sought after. If it comes to it you could easily sell these bumpers and get the ones you want, but IMHO keep the Vertex.

Its difficult to tell what sides those are. Might be Vertex, or Shine, or KS Auto,

Question is the MS wing carbon? just curious, I have a hunch as to who's car this is.

I put the wing on. Its not carbon.

I've seen his screen name, it's Kelpto's old 8. Problem is, I bought it from a dealer in VA who got it in an auction in NY.
