2009 Fog Lights on 2004 RX-8

Anyone know if the new lights will fit in the old model RX-8? I love those new lights, our old ones look outdated in comparison.

Are they totally integrated? The shape of the openning where they fit looks similar to the previous bumper...Maybe i'm wrong...

No offense, but I think you're wrong. Look again at the side-by-side pics posted above by Detrich. I'd be interested in fog lights that actually work but I doubt the new ones are any more functional than the '04-'08 fog lights.

They're both just as functional. There really isnt much that can improve or deter from a lights function in terms of its housing. Whether its round or rectangle doesn't make much difference. What does is the output of the light but thats a whole nother issue.

The only issue related to the light housing that I can think of would be in terms of headlights, the cutoff. Position and placement of a cutoff can have a huge impact on your light's performance although this pertains most to HID lights.

Anyway, point is, these are just changes in style. You can't expect one fog light to be more effective than the other based on the shape of its housing.

Now from what it looks like, if you can get the headlights out of the bumper, which i'm sure is possible, then I you could have them fitted into the older model bumpers. All you would need to do is create custom mounts for the lights. You wouldn't need to get a whole front end conversion (front bumper, headlights, fenders, possibly hood) to fit the fog lights into the car. Really all it would come down to would be some basic fabrication knowledge. You would need to take a piece of metal and do some cutting, drilling, and bending to get it to fit the way you want. There's always a method to do just about anything, and it doesn't have to cost you a ton of money.

I would have to disagree; IMHO the rectangular shape looks too eighties-vintage. I prefer the round housing.

You misread my post if you somehow thought I was suggesting the newer style foglights are any more functional.

I am also interested in the same thing.

The new fog lights look more high tech, and would look excellent on a OEM front bumper.

Like many of you, I don't mind taking the time to make it fit. I'd like to see it fit on an AutoExec front bumper.

Dear friends,

Please don't forget or please be aware of the perfect solution to this dilemma:

Our new AutoExe front bumper for the 04 to 08 RX8.

Paul.

Glad you like it. The new kit has versions for both the 04 to 08 and the 09 and later. It's really slick becuase it modernizes the older cars and enhances the newer cars (Especially for those who don't like the black mustache look). Here's the 09 version.

To be honest, I still kinda like the look of the 04-08 front ends better. The 09's have way too much open space and the air dam doesn't flow as nicely into the lines that define the edge of the hood. It kinda reduces the effect in my mind. But to each there own I guess.
