I have just talked to canzoomer about the rx8 and the greddy emange update to gold. Has anyone also updated theres, and if so how do u like the changes

 

I´m not quite sure what you mean... The latets release of firmware is 1.25 (not sure if this is what you call "gold".

 

I tried it... thought it worked, then couldn't get it to communicate, paniced and reinstalled the old version... then realized I was a dumbass and didn't have the com setting right when i tried it before, but didn't have time to mess with it any further.

I have The original Emanage Canzoomer unit "upgraded" by Maurice, but I never used the original version before the "upgrade". I use ""s because, as I later learned, the "Gold upgrade" is **three** simple solder jumps (see next post), and in my case, Maurice needed some glasses as he didn't actually do it correctly, even though he said the unit was 'tested'. Since I could fix the poor workmanship myself, and Maurice also upgraded the unit from the 1st version to the newer version board and switch, I wasn't too bumed out by the experience.

If a friend hadn't sent in his unit at the same time (which WAS done right), I would have never known it was wrong. Plus it's abitch PITA sending the thing cross border (NAFTA doesn't REALLY mean anything in practice) and the whole damn process + shipping was expensive.

As to what it does to the car... again I have no real comparision to the original, but the moded unit makes a substanial difference to me in (at least) percieved midrange 'grunt' giving the seat-of-the-pants feel of significant torque increase. I have tuned and scanalysed the result from the original no-emange, and the pig-richness is much leaner now, once tuned.

Bottom line, I love the result...the car literally springs forward Zoom Zoom where it used to feel like it had lethargic throttle response. And folks at track said my car was a'good one' as far as original tune. For example stock I dynoed 176 while a fellow with the original canzoomer only did 179 (he wasn't too happy about that as he's tuned the thing forever!). And that wheezy 'farting' pssstt sound above 8000 rpm was missing last track day I did as well! As my track days are done for the year, I won't have lap time comparisions until next season....but it's looking good!
