Turning off CEL wt Midpipe

I currently have the RacingBeat midpipe installed and I have the CEL because of no cat. I also have the COBB AP, is there any way of turning off the CEL wt the COBB other than to keep resetting the ECU, or do I need to get a custom tune that will turn it off.

Also, i know you can download the software from COBB to custom tune your own maps. Is the COBB stage 1 map unlocked so that I could try and figure out how to turn off the rear O2 cel? Sorry for all the questions, thanks!

I would buy the MazdaManiac Custom Calibration Service. http://www.mazdamaniac.com/cobb/accessport.htm. He will be able to turn off your CEL due to the midpipe and also give you a far superior tune to the cobb maps.

I was planning on doing his custom tuning, but I wanted to wait till later this summer when I get the RB intake and cat-back. That's why I was seeing if there was any way to do it myself for the time being.

not sure if the racetune software allows you to turn off any cels. you'd have to check the cobb website.

Open up the Race tuner, load map, click edit, choose advanced parameters.

DTC's will be listed. Unclick the ones you don't want monitored. save map. load onto cobb, reflash ecu.

Code should be gone...atleast thats how i think it works, but im not 100% sure. haven't messed with mine yet.

Yes, Race IIRC has the ability to kill all the CEL's that the Pro version does.

It is but I would highly suggest not using it.

Hhmm, any discount with being a member on these forums for the custom tuning? I've heard you can now custom tune the BHR ignition also.

The tuning from MM is pretty damn cheap as it is for what he's offering for the length of time : )

MM is basically charging for 6 months what most tuners will charge for 1 hour. It's probably the best deal you're gonna find.

ever heard about the non fouler trick? just go to your local auto parts store and look for the help! brand parts, what your looking for is a spark plug non-fouler the size of your o2 connection on the midpipe, the packing will have two parts, you need both, one that you will drill with a 1/2 drill mesh and then you screw both together, then you screw them on to the connection of the midpipe, and on that you plug your o2 sensor. this tricks the sensor by reading less gas. i didnt invent this, i had found that idea on a wrx/sti forum, had for my civic and it worked fine. worth trying for about 10$

Will only work about 30% of the time on some '04 and '05 models and that's it.
Even then, it will eventually throw the code again.

I bought one of the extenders that was on a WRX STI website and it only worked part of the time, the main difference I saw was my CEL didnt flash ever, but was still on 80% of the time, and without the O2 sensor extender its always on, and sometimes flashes during aggressive driving.

It's really not worth the time it takes to install it, even if it doesn't take that long.

I've heard of MIL eliminators for Mustangs/Cobras. Infact, my bf has them on his car (catless MAC prochamber)....and they turn off the CEL by telling the car the o2 sensor is running fine. It goes inbetween the connect from the car to the o2 sensor.

Do they not have these for the 8?
