ON Which table does idle pull its desired AFR from...

I know in ATR there are AFR tables for gears 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, but which table does the idle get its desired AFR from, obviously its a small range but I just can't figure it out O.o

Thinking about it now, probably 14.7... *face palm*

I'm pretty sure its the 1-2 AFR table.
I've never tried to change my idle AFR away from the stock so I can't say exactly.

Its a combination of a bunch of tables that effect it.
All depends on ECT, IAT, barometric pressure and calculated load and the CL modifier.

I'm half tempted to ask the mods to delete this thread but meh, I haven't seen anyone ask this before, even if its a simple question..

You should be able to delete it yourself.

The Cobb Help Doc isn't that helpful either.

The ATR has under the Fuel Tables sections:
- Warm-up Idle Air/Fuel
- Warm-up Idle Throttle

While under the Fuel Tables Sections in the help doc there isn't any directly corresponding topic.
There is:
Air/Fuel Idle - no description at this time
Throttle Fuel Idle - NDATT

Strange, I don't see a table for air/fuel idle or throttle fuel idle in my ATR, just the warm up ones.. I was also looking at the help doc to see if there was any mention of it.. :S well I've got another good one for now anyways.

Closed Loop - A/F targets A and B
what are the factors involved in deciding which table is active..

For that matter, theres a whole slew of tables labeled A, B or C with little to no information on what makes them active...

Yes that is what I was saying.
I just see warmup in the ATR as well, however the help has sections labelled just Idle Air/Fuel

What gear the vehicle is in

Gears
A = 1st - 2nd
B = 3rd - 4th
C= 5th - 6th

Closed loop is a little different.
So are the Idle tables where it depends if the Clutch is in or the A/C is on etc

Ok, so back to the A and B table bit, if A tables are for gears 1-2, B is for gears 3-4, and C is for 5-6 then why are there only A and B tables for closed loop A/F Targets...

Good question.
I've wondered this myself.

The only answer I can give, which I suspect is really close to the truth, is that Cobb missed it.
That CL table "C" is likely there we just don't have access to it via the Cobb ATR Interface. (probably many many more)

Try having a look at the tables that the Mazdaedit software provides or just look at some of the screens shots using a hex editor.
There are literally 10's if not 100's of tables we don't have access to via ATR.

oh yay... this makes life difficult, well I'll wait and see if anyone else knows, but for now that will slow down my progress

I've started an excel workbook that will determine the gear of every row of datalog entries from the accessport, whether or not it is closed loop or open loop, and if I'm coasting in nuetral or engine braking it negates that entry. Then it divides it into 2 lumps of open and closed loop data, then further into the A/F table based on gear, adds all of the modifiers to see expected AFR, finds the difference between expected and actual for each set of data and then gives me my MAF corrections. If it works well I will post it, but i'm sensing theres some tables I can't see that affect the AFRs...

I figured this would be nice for anyone who tunes with the AP as they don't have an expected AFR option for datalogs, and this will be a very accurate method of MAF calibration, should cut down the amount of time spent logging and crunching numbers significantly.

So thats why I've been asking these questions.
And thanks for your help so far

Last edited by Brandonien; 06-18-2013 at 07:49 AM. Reason: might also be useful for other tuning applications since all of the data will be divided into their respective fuel tables

Well...
First of all, there is no sensing or thinking that there might be missing tables it's "FACT" we know the ATR does not provide all the tables. Including tables that impact the final AFR.

Now your goal seems like a great idea, however ...
To be honest I don't think you'll be able to calibrate the Maf this way even if you did have access to all the tables.

But don't let that stop you, I would still love to see how this turns out.

Don't forget to adjust for IAT and Barometric pressure.

Doesn't sound like you need any excel help but fwiw I have an excel spreadsheet I use to lookup the desired AFR in OL based on the data logs rpm and load.
If you're interested I can posted it here for you.

Ok here you go.
I use this primarily for Cruise and 100% Calc Load runs.
The data in this template is from a log where I was trying to hold 100% calc load.

I suppose you could use it for WOT runs but there's quite a bit of latency between the demanded AFR and the actual AFR measured, so you'll need to look for that.
On the cruise runs you can typically get things to level out for a couple seconds and this will provide a stable measurement index against the AFR Table.

How it works:
(I've marked all DATA LOG input columns in Orange, change what goes in these columns and things will break)
- Columns E and H are inputs to the vlookup table calculation in column Q (Don't change these)
- Column Q vlookup table references whatever fuel map you want to put in there, of course this should be the fuel map your data log was performed against. See fuel table starting on Column U ending at column AP
- Column R and S are just stats. However column R does reference column C (AFR) so if that changes the number will be screwed up..

LogTemplate_WithFuelMapping.zip

Please ask questions if my curt instructions confuse you.

Cheers

Ok, I'm starting a new thread named for this MAF sheet, I think people will like it, or hate it but its a pretty sweet project, just copy and paste your datalogs into it and your done! (*I'll leave an instruction set...*)

New question, I'm trying to find the original post where Mazdamaniac describes how to use his SPLIT CALC worksheet in excel... I've searched the site through google almost all day yesterday and this morning I'm starting to get fed up looking for it, I just keep getting a thread where he retorts at someone and posts a link for it...
