Is this new map recommended for those who are happy with the 5/18 map?

The pic. is low res. because this forum limits file size. If Omicron can let me send a larger file (say 1 Mbyte), I can put up a very visible picure. I will not ask to send the full res. pic. (my camera is 4 meg. pixels so the unaltered image is 5.5 MBytes or so . Sorry, I don't have a website to put it on.

I haven't had time to discuss the map in detail with Maurice, but my impression is it gives more power by allowing tuning closer to the edge because he found a better way to reduce the possibility of pinging. Sorry for the run-on sentance, but it's a rather complex subject with many variables.

What if I want to keep the aftermarket intake. This is exactly my problem now. I have rotary extreme intake and CZ 1.1 installed but I also go a MIL. I tried reset PCM using brake method and reconnect battery. I checked the connection is firm and tight. So I don't think the MIL is caused by improper installation. Any way to keep both together?

Sorry David, but I cannot change the file size limit. It's a global setting, and not something I have access to. If you can't use Maurice's camera (he seems to have a low enough MP model that he has no problems posting pics taken with it to the board), then I think the best thing you can do is email the pic to whoever wants it. And you can count me among them. :D

Convert it to Jpeg, that should make it alot smapper than the bmp!

Off course. Silly of me, I though saving it as jpeg wouldn't make enough of a difference. Here is a reduced size pic. but readable. The original was actually 11 Mbytes!

To get the new map, use the method we did last time - email Michelle@harddata.com and either she will send it to you or I will.

Our policy is whenever you return your unit to us for any reason, we update it to as new configuration (i.e. new ignition board plus latest map). No charge, of course. Unfortunatly you do have to pay shipping.

Did you mean 4.7k or 47,000 ohm 1/4 watt as it appears in the picture of the color bands instead of 4k7? I can't really tell the multiplier.

They take me about an hour. They take priority as I don't want to chance loosing them in the shop . The slowest part is preparing for shipping, with all the "free trade" paperwork. I'd say next day after receipt they would go out.

Yes, those colour codes are driving me nuts. It would be nice if they could all use the same paint codes. They are 4,700 ohm resistors (4k7 ohm international nominclature or 4.7 k ohm when I learned my stuff in the "dark ages").

That explaines it. I am from the dark ages as well. My first home made radio had tubes in it.

Can't wait to hear about experiences with these new maps. I can't take rough idle, or CEL's. I am deeply interested in the CZ & midpipe so I want to see if these new maps will help.

Contact the office and they will advise how to ship to avoid cross-border hassles. Send it to us and advise the office how you will pay the shipping back to you. I will do the update as soon as it arrives.

I'm taking a few weeks off, but Laurence can handle the updates while I'm gone.

Good for you, David. Will Laurence be covering for you here on the forums too? If not him, who will be?

It may be quiet. Not sure. I could say "it's not my problem" but you probably know by now I'm not that kind of guy. Anyway, it's just two weeks or so. I get back a day before Maurice goes to Europe. By the time I get back (hint hint) we should be just about caught up on orders for the unit. We're just starting to ramp up for shipping Stage 3 units ordered (getting the installation instructions and cables ready). I did the part description and callout (I think that's what you call it) today as my last job till I get back.

Only downside is I have to drive my Pathfinder, not my car, in the mountains of BC. Darn, comfort and luxury instead of pain and speed.

Actually it's Lawrence but you can call me Larry or just LYFK. Yeah I guess I'll do my best to answer whatever questions you may have (or at least forward them to Maurice and find out for you). My intellect is far below that of what you are used to hearing from Dave or Maurice but I've only been working here about 2 months so your patience would be appreciated (as if some of you haven't been patient already!). So then... fire away...

Welcome Larry. Things have been pretty quiet in here the last few days (unusually so) so not to worry. Just check it once a day or so and that should be fine. Also, if you want to PM (Private Message) me with your email address I can give you a heads up if anything comes up that needs your attention. I'm kind of keeping an eye on things.

Thanks for your help Omicron, I'll be sure to make note. Anyone who wants to email me, my address is the same as my name: lyfk@hotmail.com. I don't worry about privacy because it isn't my private email address. I don't frequent the forum as much as I used to before I got the job, but that was stupid of me cuz it got me in one loop and out of the other. Plus after enough posts I might get a cool avatar... sweet!

Cheers
