Questions about CZ programming/logging/tuning kit

I received my RMA'd Stage 1 from CZ last week with all the latest upgrades (resistors, diodes, software, etc.). The coil problem was apparently corrected in the latest fix, but after reinstalling and turning the unit on for the first time since June, I immediately experienced a loss of power below 5000 RPMs. The symptoms are almost the same as described in my previous post; however, this time I see no external evidence that the coils are failing. As before, my car runs really strong with the unit turned off. I'm beginning to suspect I'm just one of the unfortunates whose car doesn't respond well to the map they've created. With that in mind, have any of you used the full Canzoomer programming/logging/tuning kit? Aside from adjusting various parameters for different RPMs, what exactly does this software allow you to do? I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that it's not as simple as connecting a laptop to the CZ, going out for a spirited drive while the software logs all sorts of useful diagnostic information, optimizing the fuel/air mixture and ignition timing based on the logged information and repeating the process? Or is it? Do you suppose effectively tuning a car in this manner is something a reasonably motivated and intelligent--albeit inexperienced--person could accomplish? Although it may be personally rewarding in some other way, the only thing that bugs me about possibly taking this route is the idea of having to purchase software and invest personal time to accomplish something that the product was advertised to do to begin with. At any rate, I'm willing to perform a little leg work to get this thing to work for me.

I'm basically in the same boat with the same questions.

I also would like this sort of information. I don't know if Maurice needs to do the write up as I would think eManage would be a well known product. Rotary specifics could be added once the concepts of A/F ratio and timing where understood better as the apply to all cars. I am interested in learning how to do this and think I can teach myself but I need some shoves in the right direction.

From this point on, it does happen to be a matter of tuning. Getting the programming cable and the CANSCAN tool will definitely get you on the right track. Plus it's making the most out of your investment.
